dress here

I will probably get the same shoes she has on too. Now what do I do about jewellery, shoulder coverage etc. The service is in a church and the reception in a posh hotel so it is quite formal ad the bride is a very good friend.

I'm rubbish at this part any help much appreciated, if I need pashmina type thing how the hell do you wear it? I don't think I could handle that shawl type look! I'm 26 if that helps.

You are young at a young persons wedding.
Wear you're lovely dress that you are spemding good money on.

Dont listen to us old faarts and cover up - you'll prob spend more on a jacket than the dress.

HEad up, shoulders back, smile and have a great time
You will look fab.

SparklyJules · 28/03/2010 23:05

Mwah!

tethersend · 28/03/2010 23:05

Do NOT get anything like that evans link. I'm warning you

You have spent enough money on a gorgeous dress which you love, and if you put that monstrosity over the top of it, I will come round your house and remove it myself.

tethersend · 28/03/2010 23:06

That sounded a lot more like a chat up line than I meant it to.

As you were.

MillyMollyMoo · 28/03/2010 23:07

SparklyJules As Hugh Grant once famously said in 4 weddings - a vicar with a hard on is not a good look.

I've seen somebody turned away from a 5 star hotel for having too short a dress.

You know the bride Navy, I would ask her if she thinks it's smart enough, you just do not want to be the only one who looks dressed for a club if the other girls are in a suit.

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 23:07

haha you actually made me laugh out loud tether

sixtyfootdoll thanks another vote of confidence my faith in the dress is restored!

What sort of smart coat are we thinking? I may have one or have a friend that has one. I just don't get the coat look.

SixtyFootDoll · 28/03/2010 23:08

yes sorry eyelash i meant the sleeve detail when I said if thats the ccase - dont cover up!!

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 23:12

Milly, all my girl friends are wearing dresses too not sure about the female friends of the groom. If the worst comes to the worst we can huddle at the back together!

I don't think the dress is too short, it's knee length! A bit below me knee in fact. Plus I doubt we have to worry about the vicar you aint seen my face yet

SixtyFootDoll · 28/03/2010 23:14

No coats
and def no dishrag cardies.

Maybe a fake tan the day before?
Show off those shoulders!!

SixtyFootDoll · 28/03/2010 23:14

I realise I have done an about turn on this thread!

Am looking forward to this wedding now!

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 28/03/2010 23:19

Sorry was just thinking out loud - no particular coats in mind.
I don't think you necessarily need to cover up, just thinking of your warmth (as I said, the sleeves make it look more substantial and less 'eveningy'.)
What about a lacy cardi, or something fluffy like angora?
Would look pretty and, again, make it more of a day dress.
(But if you don't feel you need the warmth, don't bother).

SparklyJules · 28/03/2010 23:26

MillyMollyMoo - are you for real? Vicar with a hard on indeed...

I very much doubt the other girls will be wearing suits. The OP is 26!

I would love to be 26 and wearing that dress!

I think the naysayers and cardi-activists are wizened old has beens who are just jealous.

Ner.

I'm with SixtyFootDoll - get a fake tan and you'll look fab and feel fab.

MillyMollyMoo · 28/03/2010 23:30

No I'm not for real it was a quote from a film

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 23:31

Definately have to have a fake tan, my legs are always really bruised from playing on the floor with children (I'm a childminder) so going to have to e extra careful the week before.

Am having a quick look on ebay - it's like a giant catalogue! I have found some I think would work but I suspect the lace ones will rev up the vavavoom and all the ivory/white ones are too bridal.

example of one I hate

but

1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

As an aside what is this

OP posts:
OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 28/03/2010 23:33

Of course she'll look and feel fab with a fake tan and bare shoulders (OLOPS tries to dis-sociate self from naysayers and cardi-activists).
I'm thinking of the poor girl shivering in church on an English spring day (maybe that does make me a wrinkled old has-been).

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 23:35

I might be cold, I'm normally a warm person but its better to have the option of layering. Maybe i could carry a pashmina then wear it like a duvet if I get cold

Do those links work

OP posts:
OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 28/03/2010 23:37

Don't work for me but I'm dragging my ancient bones off to bed now - hope you get it sorted.

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 23:41

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 23:50

I did a search on 'evening stoles' and the first to come up were www.bellawraps.com and www.wonderfulwraps.com - lots more came up which I haven't looked at.
They weren't just wraps - lots of boleros and shrugs as well, so might be worth a try.
