Kettlewell Colours

I'm on the verge of making an order, I want to order this in Emerald Turquoise.

But which colour camisole should I order to go with it?

I'm a Summer, and I know you're supposed to buy separates in the right colours and they should all go together, but I'm new to this.

Also, does anyone know what their sizes are like?

What about the raspberry?
I'm a winter and I just bought the print wrap dress with a raspberry camisole for underneath. I'd say sizing is quite generous. It' such a gorgeous colour.

Ice Lavender could look nice, though I do tend to play it safe so raspberry would be more daring.

I'm a winter, I've just sent off for the catalogue as I can't find one of my best colours 'chinese blue' anywhere. Though i'm a size 8 and I wonder if a small will be too big if they are generous? The site says 8-10 but no actual measurements I can see.

Ondine · 26/03/2010 21:38

Oh actually I have just found the size measurements, maybe it will fit after all.

I might get the valentine vest in Chinese Blue.

blossoming · 26/03/2010 22:05

Ondine, Chinese blue is one of my best colours too.
I'm also tempted with the sassy skirt and wrap top in sapphire.

RipMacWinkle · 26/03/2010 22:13

Hi - can't comment on colours (am a spring) but I've a couple of tops from there and I'm an 8-10 (more like an 8) and the small fits me fine, definitely not huge imo.

Ondine · 26/03/2010 22:25

Thanks RimMacWinkle, I'm a small 8 so that's good to know. An 8-10 can sometimes be really big.

Sapphire isn't in my little book, have they introduced a new one. It looks similar to Royal Blue ?

What colours did you get top ratings for blossoming, I got Indigo, Royal Purple, Chinese Blue, Fushsia, Raspberry, Carmine & Dark Emerald so i'm a jewel winter.

I only got them done about 5 months ago so still getting to grips with it all though I'm so pleased I did it.

Ondine · 26/03/2010 22:26

Rim I mean RipMacWinkle!

blossoming · 27/03/2010 06:53

Ondine, I don't have sapphire either but it looks like it could be a darker version of the royal blue, no. 10.

My best ratings are very similar to yours. I got grey, charcoal, royal purple, electric blue, lobelia, fuchsia, raspberry, Chinese blue and dark emerald.
Had my colours done this month and haven't looked back!

If a few people do order from Kettlewell Colours bump this thread back up and let us know what the quality is like etc.

I like the website but at the actual colour class I can remember no one liked the look of the clothes as they all looked a bit ill fitted. But there wasn't the greatest of selection.

I love all this colour stuff - I wouldn't mind been a colour advisor one day, I keep watching the tv and saying 'oh that colour is wearing her, it's all wrong...' etc

RipMacWinkle · 27/03/2010 09:17

Quality - I've had a couple as I said, one was 95% cotton, the other totally viscose (I think). The second one I found a bit longer and stretchier, it did fit but just not as well.

TBH I now only wear the cotton one, which is going strong after a lot of wear and washes. It's a 3/4 sleeve boat neck (and I reckon when I finally get to the style class I'll get told it's all wrong anyway )

Stats for info are 5'0", size 8(ish) - baby weight so just under 8 stone.

HTH

Ondine · 27/03/2010 09:31

Thanks that does help a lot, I sound v similar to you 5'2 if I stand up very straight and 7 stone 13.

Was a bit concerned they would be really long and a bit baggy.

Ok I'm going to order this top in the elusive Chinese Blue. I know it's in viscose but I will take a chance .

I have yet to do the style class, I'm still vaguely lost when it comes to clothes so might do it. Did you find it worth it Rip? Is that the one where they tell you if you're a gamine/romantic etc

blossoming · 27/03/2010 10:30

The wrap dress I bought is a gorgeous fit, and this from someone with two dvf wraps.
I think I'm okay with knowing what suits me being a fan of trinny & susannah and gok, but I'm also keen on doing the image day.

RipMacWinkle · 29/03/2010 08:30

Hi Ondine, I'm afraid I can't help on the image/style class as I haven't done it yet. I'm fairly intrigued. Probably more so as time goes on.

I did the colour analysis over 2 years ago and I think I'm finally getting my head round what that entails so I only now feel ready to add more confusion help into the mix

SuSylvester · 29/03/2010 08:32

what IS kettlewell

RipMacWinkle · 29/03/2010 08:35

Hi Su - they're a company who make tops (and have recently branched into other things - wrap dresses, pashminas etc) but their USP is that they specify which of their colours are appropriate for spring, summer, autumn, winter for those who've had their colours done.

Very useful for someone like me who did the colours day but was initially overwhelmed by what to do next.

hth

SuSylvester · 29/03/2010 09:00

ooh yes

LaurieFairyCake · 29/03/2010 09:05

Is there a website for me to diagnose myself (think I've seen it posted on here before ) as I went on one and it said hold a bit of paper to your face and if it casts a yellowish tinge (rather than blue) then your warm.

But warm what?

I have pale skin, light/mid mousey brown hair, pale brown/slight greenish tinge eyes.

I like that Kettlewell wrap dress - very nice.

fishie · 29/03/2010 09:12

ondine my sister is a jewel winter, i am dead jealous. somehow i have turned out to be a deep summer ie wishy washy, would far rather swish about in jade and black.

Dorothyredboots · 29/03/2010 09:56

Hello Tea. It's Dorothy again re your camisole. As you are Summer you need to think about dressing in tones - think of the Monet idea again: so out of the cotton camisole colours I would suggest you get the Peacock which should give that effect with the Emerald Turquoise. The Bluebell or the Periwinkle would also be nice I think. Stick to another blue tone from the list and it will be fine. I'm a Spring, as you know, and I would put the Watermelon or the Butterfly with it as I need to wear different colours together instead of tones of the same colour IYSWIM.
I think the kettlewell stuff is good quality and it washes and wears really well. I like the ones with the stretch in as they keep their shape beautifully. I'm a standard size 10 and the small is a great fit on me, although I like to have things fitted rather than baggy. I think the skirt is nice and I wear it as a 'dress' with the wrap top. The skirt is the same fabric as the tops so it is a Summer skirt rather than a Winter garment, it drapes nicely tho' and I find it hard to get skirts in my colours to be honest. I also wear the 3/4 sleeve scoop neck with the short sleeve wrap top over it (the wrap top is in the sale at the moment too).
Hope this helps.

Dorothyredboots · 29/03/2010 10:07

Blossoming - can you wear the wrap dress with a leather belt of some sort?. Can you hide the ties? I need a proper belt for my body shape and the look is too soft on that dress as it is.

blossoming · 29/03/2010 11:47

Dorothy, I'm not sure about that. Maybe you'ld be better with the sassy skirt and fixed wrap top?

Dorothyredboots · 29/03/2010 12:07

Blossoming, thanks - I already have the skirt and wrap top which I wear as a dress (with the all essential belt) so I'll probably keep to that. The dress gives a different neckline which would be nice .

blossoming · 29/03/2010 12:26

It is a gorgeous dress, but I think the ties are essential to it. They do a vest in the same print though.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 29/03/2010 20:59

I'm also a summer - although I was told to aim for the look of 'a jar of sweet peas,' which I take to mean a mix of pinks, blues and purples - not quite the same as tones I don't think.

I've collected quite a few camisoles now and I do mix and match them a lot - but maybe as you're still getting used to it do as Dorothy says and stick with the tonal look.

I found the style day really useful, although as I think someone else has said before, you do find yourself coming home empty-handed from shopping expeditions a lot, as you know what's perfect for you but it's not necessarily in the shops when you go!

I'm saving up for a personal shopping session with a fab independent consultant - she analyses your style and colour, advises on hair (is a colour advisor for L'Oreal), and takes you to buy a capsule wardrobe.

Maybe I'll make it my reward for losing weight.

Dorothyredboots · 31/03/2010 09:03

OurLady - totally agree with what you say. I think you get more adventurous as time goes by and you get more confident. I love wearing my colurs although my husband winces at some of the combinations I come up with. Having said that he is going for his colours/image tomorrow so he must see something in it.
