thinning hair after bleaching and pregnancy

I've always had fine hair but there used to be considerably more of it before I started using toner and bleach, and before I gave birth. It's very thin now and just doesn't keep any style and is so flat.

I've stopped lightening it and now use dark semi-permanent dyes. I don't blow-dry for long and use the warm setting to reduce heat damage. I'm really careful when I comb.

Has anybody else had this? Did you use anything to help your hair re-grow? How long did it take for your hair to return to normal, if indeed it did?

I just don't know what to do with it because I know hair extensions would only weaken my hair more but I have the type of hair only women of a certain age seem to have!

I have fine hair too.

I have found the best solution for me is to use L'Oreal Re-Nutrition Shampoo & Conditioner for dry & damaged hair. I have had better success with this than the Kerastase equivalent (altho that was good......just not as good as the L'Oreal). It has really thickened my hair and given it loads of bounce & body.

I have also stopped blow drying my hair (except for my fringe) and leave it to dry naturally. Ordinarily, this would have resulted in flyaway, unmanageable hair but in conjunction with the new shampoo I end up with gorgeously soft and full hair.

I used to use a comb but have switched to a Kent natural bristle brush and that has made a big difference too. Brushing several times a day releases the natural oils from the scalp which can help to nourish the hair.

Finally, I don't use any product - again, something I never would have considered - just slap the mousse etc on to thicken it up! but it's actually a lot healthier and thicker without.

That's great, thank you - I'll try the L'Oreal stuff.

Re. the natural bristle brush - do you use that on wet hair too? It's funny, I always imagine bristles to tug on hair more.

yep, use it on wet hair too. My hair always went rather manic with regular brushing or combing but this brush is working a treat on my hair

Try using cool water when washing hair and use a volumising shampoo. I shed loads of hair with my DD and freaked out thinking I would go bald but it all grew back (slowly) and now after my DS, I am going through this motion again.
