Returning 'Uggs' to China?!

I STUPIDLY ordered some fake 'Ugg' boots from a website that I found - despite them professing they were original etc. However, I decided to go for it as after speaking to friends who have fakes and reading reviews online I heard the fakes were often as good as the real thing and I was only really after the sheepskin/leather product (not bothered by the name).

Well, I should have known better as the product arrived today (from Shanghai) and they are cheap as anything! Certainly not sheepskin but fake fur interiors and possibly not even leather (defeating the object of cold toes!).

My question is do I risk it and return them to china (they have a returns page on the website but it looks like it's been lifted from the real UGG site so probably not legit) but I do have an email conctact in Shanghai (who did write back to me) or should I just bite the bullet and sell them on (obviously stating they are fake but take any money I can get on them).

By the way I paid £55!

Lessons have been learnt!!

You could call your cc company to ask if there's any protection offered by then. But v unlikely that there's any point shelling out to return the items only not to be repaid the money.

Thousands of pairs of fake uggs are burned every month by Customs. So you're not alone but don't hold your breath on getting anything back. i expect the Consumer Association might have some info on their website given the numbers of people trying to get uggs on the cheap.

Thanks for the reply. I emailed Shanghai as had nothing to lose and they wanted to know why I was unhappy with the product?! Like they had to question it!

I think you're right that it is unlikely they would return my money anyway, or it's a gamble.

I looked on the Which? website which said you are not protected for counterfeit goods so will not bother contacting my CC company.

That's the last time I buy anything online from a company that I know isn't 100% reputable.

I'd be tempted to contact your credit card company anyway. If the company sell fakes, couldn't they clone your credit card details? I don't know about this kind of thing and am probably being a bit neurotic, but I'd ask my bank to check things out, just in case...

(wanders...is there a neurotic emoticon???)

and the last time you seek out counterfeit goods?

There are unbranded ugg type boots available from shops in the UK, you just need to have a shop around

Thanks Squilly. I will defo check my credit card details. I feel like I've just chucked money away (even though I have the product I don't really want it).

Remarkably the company replied when I said I was unhappy with the product claiming that the product was 100% sheepskin which is an absolute joke and insulting to my intelligence. It is so obvious it is fake fur!

I am going to report them to the Consumer Association - I don't want anyone else buying a substandard product (and yes, I will never buy counterfeit again).
