Hello, Anybody been to the Ritz for afternoon tea?? If you have what did you wear?

My MIL gave my husband and I a voucher for afternoon tea at the Ritz for christmas.

I really dont know what to wear, MIL says I should wear my 1950s wedding dress by Candy Anthony , the dress cost a fortune, so I would like to get more wear out of it.. Im wearing it in my photo.. (in my profile)

Im even contemplating dying it black?? (Candy Anthony said this would be fine to do)

My waist belt is leopard print as is my skull cap veil., and my petticoat is black.

Should I hide my tattoos with a bolero???

would this be tooo OTT for the ritz?

I am 50s mad, so what ever I wear will be vintage, or vintage inspired?? Ive also have to shift a stone to get in the dress again!! any opinions would be greatly appreciated! x

You are very lovely, and so is your dress. Agree it would be too much for tea, though.

He he he littlelapin I have both those dresses I wore the black spotty dress from Dollydagger (made by vivien of holloway) for my hen night, I quite like the idea of wearing it to the Ritz.

OMG PlumSykes that dress is gorgeous, Im pulling out the credit card as we speak! thank you for the link!

Thanks for the replies everyone!!...I think I will experiment with different colour petticoats and cardigans, some funky Leopard print pumps might dress it down a little...
I do tend to over dress when ever I go out, Im actually quite used to stares, my dress sense is a little eccentric at times, I now have a good idea of the dress code, so thank you all for your tips and advice I really appreciate it!!

I've been to the ritz for afternoon tea - it's FABULOUS !!(take your toothbrush & paste so you can clean your teeth afterwards..I ate so muc sugar I could literally feeling my teeth dissolving !!)

I think beautiful dress, BUT iirc there isn't that much space there. I wore a shiney flarey skirt, boots & a fitted top. DH wore a suit & tie - I think that's mandatory for me, at least it was when we went.

Have a fantastic time.

mandatory for men, not ME. Also wore a fitted denim jacket...ok, it was quite a few years ago..

lol at pagwatch and 'tits over tea', hmm that might become my new mn name!

LSPBH you and your dress are gorgeous,I daresay you will look fabulous whatever you wear (I would also say not to dye the dress black, but some shade of green will look great with your hair colour)
