Posh Breastfeeding Frock needed

WinkyWinkola · 22/03/2010 20:39

Can anybody direct me to a retailer that sells lovely posh frocks - I'm off to a bar mitzvah but need to feed ds too.

I've found lots of comfy, cotton type clothes that I love but they aren't dressy enough.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Isabella Oliver - they are online

what about separates?

I fed at a (jewish) wedding - i got a hooter hider which are derided on here but did the job

i wore a strapless dress which i could pull down (along with bra) and fed

how old will your DS be?

WinkyWinkola · 22/03/2010 20:48

I've looked at IO and can't really see anything suitable.

I'd love to wear a dress - I'm 6ft so finding trousers long enough are always a problem at your average shop.

DS will be six months. Perhaps I should try expressing and putting him on bottles then.

by 6 months he should be able to go 3 - 4 hours without a feed or be so speedy you could feed him in a few mins?

DD was 4 weeks old when i went to the wedding so she fed all the time

DD is now 25 weeks and easily going 3 hours between feeds

rubyslippers · 22/03/2010 20:56

what i have done is get dresses which allow for easy access

for another posh do when DD was 3 weeks old i had a silk dress with a v front - i got a cami underneath so i could pull the dress apart and the cami up and feed that way

i haven't bought a single breastfeeding dress/top and DD is now 25 weeks

I bf my dd in church at that age at a wedding and wore a normal dress like rubyslippers from debenhams that could just be pulled aside and had a shawl over the top. Am small of nork though.

Some here

specialmagiclady · 22/03/2010 20:58

Could you do a skirt and top which you could lift up so you don't have to heave out a great veiny tit over the top of a dress. If you wear a jacket or cardi, you can use that to hide the wobbly flabby belly bits at the sides too.

WinkyWinkola · 22/03/2010 21:06

A great veiny tit! Brilliant!

Actually, you're all right. I don't need to be as concerned about bfing constantly, do I?

Which gives me a lot more scope to hide my flabby bits. Sigh.

Thank you.

I've looked at MummyLooksFab you know and I think the fabrics look a bit shite.....bit polyester-spontaneous combustion type stuff that is clingy...

I've also used a Hooter Hider at posh do's (or Bebe au Lait nursing cover as they like to call themselves now). I've also bought 3 or 4 bfing dresses over the years by googling bfing clothes (or nursing as the Americans say, but ignore the fancy dress nurses outfits that will come up!).
Even though I'm a size 12/14 I always have to buy XL as most of them are made in Singapore by a designer who may be more used to petite Asian ladies than strapping British gals.
Good luck and hope you find something GAWJESS whether designed with extra secret flappy bits or not.

Winkly, think I am going to be hanging on to your dress coat tails on this thread. I too am looking for a suitable posh frock for my sister's wedding at the end of May. My soon to be born DD (due 24th March) will be about 8 weeks then, so still very tiny. I am also tall, although you do have a couple of inches on me!

So, will lurk for now...

Rindercella · 22/03/2010 22:06

Oh bugger - you're Winky, not Winkly

tummytime · 23/03/2010 15:24

This has some nice dresses. Does anyone know what they're like for service/ delivery etc?

tummytime · 23/03/2010 17:27

Otherwise there are some nice ones at Babes with babies www.babeswithbabies.com but a bit pricey.

Smackley · 24/03/2010 16:21

I had a dress from there and it was organic cotton - lovely and soft. Didn't even catch fire when I danced in it...I wasn't going very fast though... :-)

Smackley · 24/03/2010 16:25

Sorry - should clarify - the dress was from Mummy Looks Fab, not Babes with Babies. Bit of a newb at this

Ewe · 24/03/2010 16:34

I think you need a DvF wrap dress...

Print

More fitted and would need killer shoes and accessories.

You can probably find other designs online, I bought one in the sale when I was bfing and it was great.

Ewe · 24/03/2010 16:37

Lots of other print options here
