...in a size 14-16. I've found this lot on ebay, but want something a bit less 'fancy dress'. It's for my brother's wedding so needs to be reasonably glam but not OTT.

Anyone up for a challenge?

I tried this on in Laura Ashley the other day.It was gorgeous, far nicer than picture suggests, very Mad Men.

They have other lovely things in too.

this dress looks amazing on. My friend has it and I think another mumsnetter wore it to her husband's birthday.

choosyfloosy · 21/03/2010 22:09

must say i think that cherry print dress is glorious!

i know that vivien of holloway is recommended a lot on here but it's probably even more fancy dress in some ways. Gorgeous though.

cananybodyhelp · 21/03/2010 22:13

Oh ladies, I knew I should have come here in the first place!!

I have this on it's way, and have bought this too. I LOVE the vivien of holloway site....gorgeous stuff!

Those VofH dresses are fantastic.
I want one.

cananybodyhelp · 21/03/2010 22:16

Whoops, should have added, they are as back up - worried they are a bit drab, although would dress the up with jewellery and some killer shoes....and possibly a pair of these..... - or perhaps they are a bit too tarty?? Gawd, I anm useless at shopping, it's been ages since I bought myself anything at all.

I wouldn't do the tights as well as the dress of that style (great as they are) as thne it is too much.

cananybodyhelp · 21/03/2010 22:20

ok - need good shoes then - and a petticoat?

OP posts:
moondog · 21/03/2010 22:29

Aye to petticoat.

Biscuitbreaker · 21/03/2010 22:31

Yes, high heels and petticoat. I have a VofH dress which I wore to a wedding and had some lovely compliments!

cananybodyhelp · 21/03/2010 22:36

Was it comfy biscuitbreaker? My tummy ain't what it used to be and I'm a bit worried about my lack of a discernible waistline. I might need to think about some sort of super strength underwear, but those VoH ones look quite structured?

I was going to recommend V of H too and also Dolly Dagger
