Off to Barcelona end of April/beg of May, Temp should be 18/19 degrees. To save money on flights we have booked 1 hold bag between 2 plus hand luggage so we need to pack carefully.....

I deffo need:
Swimming stuff (hotel has a spa)
Gym stuff (and a gym...)
evening clothes and day time sight seeing clothes....

It's teh shoes that will get me, I will try to take too many and I know I can't....

yes cyb I am rubbish at packing light

if you have some smart jeans you can wear in the day and also at night, just change your top/maybe add a necklace/change shoes

same goes for one dress, for example a black jersey dress kind of thing, or whatever you've already got that can be plain enough to look smart

and clean undercrackers are most definitely a must

Knickers, toothbrush, couple of tops, party shoes.
Borrow everything else off mate "dammit, i forgot my washbag", then fill your share of checked bag with new shoes on the homeward leg.
Buy a brolly if you need one.

Oh, and make dinner reservations at the Cafe de L'Academia.
And buy tickets for the tourist bus and sit on the top deck.

SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 18:42

i always take too many shoes
Yoorpeans dont dress up to eat out

DrNortherner · 21/03/2010 19:38

ooh what is Cafe de L'Academia?

I have heard that in Barcelona they don't dress up on an evening. Not like Newcastle then hey?!

here
I went with girlfriends - we didn't have reservations so they set up a table in their wine cellar to accommodate use .

KristinaM · 23/03/2010 11:33

cyb is right

the weather can be very variable, you need a jacket, blazer suggestion excellent. though if you are really from newcastle you could just go in a strapless minidress

comfy shoes for sightseeing most important

agree that you don't need to go to gym, just bikini for spa ( esp if you cant swim). no seriously, you dont. i sympathise - I'm sitting here in gym clothes, just returned from pump and is it my birthday, i should be lying in bed reading magazines....

anyway i digress

heels, nice top and accessories fine for evening

do not take too much stuff, you will regret it

wifyhome · 23/03/2010 20:46

i would take:
skinny jeans
skirt
shorts
converse
pumps
sandals
maxi dress
vests& thirt
cardi
mac
blazer
combinations:
*travel:
skinnnies, t shirt, cardi, converse, mac (you want to WEAR most bulky items on the way there!)
*sightseeing
shorts vests ,sandals cardi
skirt, t shirt, blazer
*evening
maxi, sandals
shorts, thirt, blazer, sandals

i wouldnt bither with heals sandals and baller pumps cand be squished flat

cyb · 23/03/2010 20:50

she's going for a weekend, not a fortnight!

wifyhome · 23/03/2010 21:00

exactly 2 days 2 evening and travel

is it really to much

cruelladepoppins · 23/03/2010 21:09

My only rule is pick my one pair of shoes and base everything else round that. I wouldn't bother with heels for a weekender. Means I give trainers a miss but have something vaguely comfortable for all purposes, like Mary Janes or something.

Honestly, if you can crack one pair of shoes it gets very easy. I speak as someone who frequently has to travel with 1 adult's and 2 DS's (aged 8 and 10) clothes in one rucksack. And one of the boys needs extra bottoms because he's not totally reliable in the toilet dept. But I digress ...

I would

  • wear smartish trousers, longsleeved top, jacket, possibly a nice scarf and my one pair of shoes on the plane;
  • pack one more l/s top, one s/s top, a skirt, a dress, a pair of leggings, undies, swimsuit, minimal toiletries, folding umbrella. Minimalist nightie - probably a silk slip, they pack to nothing.
I wouldn't bother with gymkit if it's only a weekend. Just do extra walking or pool exercises (ever done aquaerobics? Like that.)

Lucky, lucky you - enjoy!

DrNortherner · 24/03/2010 11:48

Thanks guys. I do however need heels for a night out, I simply can not go out on an evening in flats or I will combust.

in that case take one and when you pack stuff your undirs and socks inside so it doesnt take up to much space

DrNortherner · 24/03/2010 13:54

Only one? I have two feet ....
