vintage style dress, suitable for wedding...

I am looking for a dress...
I need it to wear to a wedding and also a work do. I would like something a little different, so that I can be sure no-one else will turn up in the same thing...

I tend to go for vintage/vintage-style clothes, usually in black, but fancy maybe wearing a colour. Teal?

Am 5ft 5, size 8 and dark...

Any ideas?

Fever are great for vintage style dresses - I love this

More info please!

How formal do you need to be?
What's your budget?
What period do you mean by vintage dress? 30s (long slinky satin) 40s (floral tea dress) 50s (nipped waist, full skirt) 60s (short shift dress)?

I second Tethersend's suggestion at browsing on rockit website as they usually have a good selection and I'm always happy with my purchases.

Other websites you might like to try

Love Miss Daisy

Candy Says

Devoted 2 Vintage

Depends what you want. Are you after an original? Anything earlier than 50s is hard to get in good condition bear in mind. What era are you after?

Biscuitbreaker · 20/03/2010 21:29

Sorry, I realise that's not much to go on...To be honest I wasn't sure what era, I just wanted something to look a little different - even if it wasn't actually vintage!

Thanks so much all of you for the suggestions: Tethersend, I love the coral dress you found on eBay!

I also liked the Fever one which would be great for the wedding, but perhaps not quite evening enough to do for the work do as well...

LucyKate I like Modcloth, but am nervous about buying clothes from USA in case they don't fit! Have you ever bought from there?

I just bought my wedding dress a vintage 1950's lace number fro mAmerican E-bay. I'm so pleased with it and it was really inexpensive £40!!!! You should check out USA ebay theres so much stuff, put in Vintage, decade ,wiggle dress etc and see what you come up with. I think it took a week or two to arrive. Good Luck
