How to flatten & tighten stomach

nowadoubledee · 19/03/2010 23:21

Going on holiday at easter & getting very excited about it.

the problem is what to wear to the beach...DS2 is 7 months, I'm starting to loose weight, still a stone to loose to get to ideal weight ...hoping to get rid of this in the next month...this may be wishful thinking.

If i assume I loose the extra weight, what do i do about my stomach??.... it still looks like a deflated balloon with loose skin, has anyone found any wonder products that make it shrink back?

Currently eyeing up swimwear on here www.simplybeach.com/manufacturers/Seafolly.aspx?ShowAll.

Any ideas

I just bought this one from M&S. It has a hidden 'tummy control' panel, which basically smooths everything nicely. Looks great on too.

I've also lost 1 stone in the last 6 weeks, thanks to stopping eating white bread, biscuits, crisps etc.

ordered some bikinis from maxcleavage.com...but they are NOT good....I may be small of nork now I've stopped BF, that does not mean i want fake boobness sticking out the side, jutting weirdly into my arm...v dissapointing as very ££££ ...thje hunt continues

No amount of sit ups will ever flatten a stomach. (in fact when I was at my fittest, with great abs, I rarely did sit ups.) Most people have a layer of fat over abdominals, which is normal, but some have more than others.

The only way to get a flat stomach is by reducing bodyfat. This is done by eating the right way and burning fat. You cannot spot reduce fat, but doing extensive weights routines does help to burn more fat from stubborn areas. (Lean muscle requires more fuel to power them, so fat stores tend to be used)

Don't eat bread ever, ever, yes it's lovely I know but don't and you are half way there have one pot of activia a day, it really does help. Do some concentrated ab's excercise evryday for fiv mins in the morning, there are lots of sites around with examples. However, if you do not sweat in a gym twice a week you will never get rid of the roll of fat surrounding your dveloping abs with those exercises. I found even if I ate very little and did ab exercises, if I didn't sweat in a gym the tummy stays. I once knew a girl who did all these but still had a loose tummy when she got skinny. She did go for a tummy tuck and it looked great but you have to ask is it really worth going that far, bec her tummy looked flat in clothes, she just didn't like it undressed.

One word:

Calanetics

overmydeadbody · 20/03/2010 11:40

Monadami stomach excersises help flatten a stomach as long as you reduce bofy fat too. Tight well developed abs make your stomach narrower as the muscles at the side pull in too, so it gives you a more hourglass figure.

I climb, and in the summer when I climb a lot and use a lot of my core muscles every day I notice a difference after a few weeks and basically end up with a waist a few inches smaller than in the winter.

If you cant do physical activities that put a lot of work into your core muscles then the next best alternative is sit ups, provided they ar the right sort of sit ups and you do them properly. That';s why I recommend Calanetics.

But if there is a layer of fat there, no amount of sit ups will get ride of the fat so you won't see the flat abs underneeth

Pilates, pilates and MORE pilates.

cannot recommend it enough.

my stomach is flat as a board even after 2 DC's. (and only started doing it after DC1)

-watching thread with interest to see if there is any magic creams or potions-

my stomach may be flat but its crepey

PlanetEarth · 21/03/2010 17:24

Agree on the Callanetics - with the reservation that for some of us it's an improvement from blobby tummy to less-blobby tummy! There are those of us for whom flat tummies are just never going to happen (even when I was 20 and 9 stone I didn't have one ).

I especially recommend the mini-workouts dvd [http://www.callanetics-dvds.com/callanetics-DVDs-UK-PAL.htm here].

PlanetEarth · 21/03/2010 17:25

Oops, that was meant to read here

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 21/03/2010 19:12

I did Callanetics when they first came out in the '80s (aged gimmer) and saw no results because they were dull, dull, dull and I could never sustain doing them for more than a couple of weeks.

I've often been curious about what happened to Callan Pinkney - now she had a fab body.

PlanetEarth · 21/03/2010 21:17

Personally I thought Callan in the videos looked a bit like a starved chicken!

Yes they can get a bit boring but you can kind of zone out and just do it while thinking of other stuff!

Jewelsandgems · 22/03/2010 11:10

I second pilates - gentle actually enjoyable excerises and with a great result.
