opinions please, for a dress for my 13 year old who is going to a masquerade ball - but doenst want to get fully dressed up. Some are going in leggins etc, but i have managed to persuade her to at least wear a dress.

So, choices are.....

this one

this one with leggins
or this one with leggins again
and finally
this one with you guessed it - leggins!

it is like pulling teeth trying to get her to make a decision, so any help would be appreicated

I think the New Look spot one. the next ones both look a little young. Those vest top full skirt dresses are in for teens

aha Thats my choice I told her we would go with the mn verdict!

With tights then, and she has black ballet pumps - they would go?

yes that woudl be lovely

Lizzylou · 17/03/2010 19:27

I agree, one of the New Look ones (I like the spotty one best), though I do love the grey outfits from Next, they are lovely, think they are a little young for her.

Ooh, it's nice to look at children's clothes that haven't got Ben10/Pirates/Dinosaurs on them

Lizzy. I know what you mean, it is either dora or peppa for the little one, or black, black and black for t'other

we havent discussed hair yet. I think there are a couple of pics on my profile.... she has very very thick hair, which we usually straighten each morning.

She does need a hair cut though, so may book her in for a cut and a pin up or something (god this is going to cost me a fortune)
She is just so excited to be going, i want her to feel confident that she looks nice

either of the new look.

13 year olds are pretty much beyond next and if they are all disucssing clothtes, it would be much better to say new look.

Unless 13 yr olds by you aer nothing like 13 yr olds in my neck of the woods

has she got a fringe? Straight or a long one all swept to the side?

Some sort of messy bun thing could look great

Fimbow · 17/03/2010 19:41

The New Look spotty one, have seen the flowery New Look one in rl and is pretty vile tbh.

jetcat · 17/03/2010 19:56

pointy - my 13 year old (well, she will be 13 next week) has a few issues which mean she is quite young compared to some of her friends. She hasnt really started discussing clothes yet, but i know the people she is going with do. Tbh, this is the first party she has gone to in a long long time, as she struggles with friends etc. So yes, i will cry

fringe is swept to the side, i will try and find a photo to add to my profile, but my youngest was playing with the laptop one day and did something to the photos, and now i cant find them

And yes, i just said to her, you cant ask for mumsnet style advice without putting a photo up She was suitably mortified

Oh jet - she is going to look so lovely. I love the spot one (in fact I thought they were all great) and it'll be perfect with ballet pumps!

TrillianAstra · 17/03/2010 20:22

I liked the one with the roses. Definitely New Look. I wish I could dress up a 13-yr-old, it sounds fun!

(Hi JuniorJet!)

pointydog · 17/03/2010 20:43

ok, if she is a bit behind with the fashion chat, definitlye go for new look. The last thing she wants is any clothes one-up-manship from others that makes her feel out of the loop.

jetcat · 17/03/2010 21:11

trills, not sure if fun is the word i would use........

Its all "hmm" "maybe"" "......" and "...roll eyes"

then when we eventually do buy something, we get home only for her to say either she doesnt like it or she cant fasten it or something equally as

She is great, but as she isnt a good talker buying things for her takes a lot of guess work!

I actually dont recall seeing the spotty one in our local shop, so may have to go to a bigger store, as i dont think it would be here by friday if i ordered online. She did try a different one on though, which isnt on the website, and that one didnt get any facial expressions, so that one may be a possible as well

Thanks
