How do I update the leggings, knitted dresses and boots look for summer?

As above really. I've lived in knitted dresses and leggings over the winter and would like to keep wearing the same leggings (got some nice pale grey ones in H&M last week)but with summery tops.

I'm 5ft, size 10-12 with a tummy but good legs.

I think this kind of thing which seems to be everyhwere at the moment would be totally wrong on me as it would click to my lower tummy:
very unflattering unless a size 6 IMO

So I think I need a tunic which finishes just below my er, camel toe, but not too far down my thighs as other wise it drowns me.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Watching with interest, as my winter uniform has been identical to yours!

Am pretty well same size as you but a bit taller and wouldn't say legs are good...

SuSylvester · 15/03/2010 09:59

i think you need to move away from this sillouete

SuSylvester · 15/03/2010 10:00

what did oyu wear last summer?
jeans?

FiveOrangePips · 15/03/2010 10:05

this kind of shape (empire line?) should work for you.

I am similar height/size to you, I like H&M too.

FiveOrangePips · 15/03/2010 10:11

skimming over any slight bulges (you are only size 10/12 remember, maybe you perceptions of your body are wrong?). I wear quite clingy clothes, keeping everything simple/boring, because I am so short - remember cardigans are your friend, they hide any awkward bits.

vesela · 15/03/2010 10:23

what about drop-waisted tunics/dresses? They can work well if the fit is good, i.e. not too baggy overall...

Ho hum. Linkitis strikes again

notasize10yetbutoneday · 15/03/2010 11:37

Thank you everyone- couldnt get those links to work unfortunately Mumsnet?

5Orange Pips- the style of the 'skimming' one you linked to is just right- its just the colour/pattern Im not keen on, it seems like everyhting at the mment is either black, grey or navy and as all my 'bottoms' are these colours I would actually like some colour on my top half! Especially with the nice weather coming (hopefully) it seems wrong to be wearing so many dark colours.

Has anyone seen any nice pastel or bright coloured long tops/short dresses for wearing with leggings?

Forgot to say- last summer wore a mix of cropped trousers and below kneelength skirts (at 5ft everything except micro minis end below the knee) which on reflection now think make me look dumpy with me being so short.

Not a jeans fan really esp once weather gets warmer.

FiveOrangePips · 15/03/2010 12:36

floral says it is a dress but it is quite short.

FiveOrangePips · 15/03/2010 12:39

notasize10yetbutoneday · 15/03/2010 14:56
