A question about hair straighteners

Linnet · 13/03/2010 23:59

My dd has bought her first pair of straighteners, I'm secretly excited because I can borrow them, but when we're at the hairdressers the spray stuff on her hair before using the straighteners. Obviously I want to buy this spray before she uses them but fashion phobic that I am I have no idea what it is.

Can anyone advise/recommend what spray stuff I should buy so that she doesn't wreck her hair?

Thanks very much

My hairdresser says Paul Mitchell Seal and Shine and don't overuse the straighteners! She said the last bit, not me.

Boots have loads of choice of these produts for example. I think it comes down to personal preference and what your DD can afford to buy on a regular basis.
Paul Mitchell stuff is great, but a bit more pricey than some alternatives. Completely agree with sweetapril about not overusing straightners.

You can buy any spray in boots that protects the hair from heat.

So basically anything that says heat protection is good?

I've warned her not to overuse them and I'll be keeping an eye on her too.

Thanks

yes just look for a heat protection spray, it doesnt have to be expensive they all do the same job, just a matter of prefrence like a shampoo. You could also use hairspray, the theory behind it is that the straighteners will damage the hair if you have no spray on it, spray lubricates it so it doesnt cause the hair as much damage.

Make sure the hair is completely dry too. Unless they state can be used on wet hair.

I'd recommend loreal straightening protection sprays and creams as they dont make your hair greasy
