Years spent looking for non-metal jewellery!

I'm allergic to metal (except 14-carat gold which I can't afford ) and am always looking for jewellery I can wear. I've found a few bits & pieces over the years but get sick of wearing the same old things with every outfit.Surely there must be lots of people like me, so why cant I find a website that sells alternative non-metal jewellery? Does anyone else know of one?

Im allergic to metal too and cant wear fun costume jewellery. I look for necklaces with a ribbon tie rather than a chain and tend to wear chunky wooden or ceramic bracelets. SkaterBoy is good at finding me unusual things like a pendant made of sea glass on a leather thong.

Any recommendations would be great!

On my wedding day I wore my grandmother's pear earrings and painted the clasp with clear nail varnish - still had flakey skin on my ears on honeymoon though!

zsiska beautiful acrylic jewellery

folksy handmade or independent items- good for a browse

tatty devine very 'now' most necklaces can be rethreaded and some feature no metals at all...

If i think of more I'll let you know

ooh if you do searches for murano glass or dichroic glass you'll find lots of pretty things that vary in price from company to company and can usually be ribbon or organza threaded.

This is difficult but not so difficult as you might think. Gold fill is actual 14 ct gold bonded on to metal and only a chemist can tell the difference ebtween that and solid goldfill and it is non allergic -you might find this your ideal solution. Niobium is another inert metal which can be used. Fine silver has no nickel in it.

You'd do well to go to an Artisan jeweller who are far more flexible and knowledgeable than high street shops are and can do the customizations for you - my friend who has allergies went to this one and had their gold fill options

My mum and I are both allergic to base metals and I got so fed up of not being able to find affordable jewellery for myself and never being able to give her jewellery that I started learning to make jewellery and I'm in the process of launching my own company selling designer jewellery made solely from Sterling Silver/Gold at affordable prices.

If anyone would like to see some of my stuff or would like something designed and made for them do feel free to drop me a PM ... I work in gold, silver, gemstones, pearls, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystal, so I'll easily be able to put together something unique that you'll be able to wear and that's well within your budget :)

My Niece is allergic to gold and anything other than fine silver. Fine silver is 99.9% silver whereas sterling silver is only 92.5% silver.

I have my own jewellery business and made her some fine silver jewellery for her Prom, last July. I've also made some other jewellery for Xmas and Birthdays, as I know she doesn't get to wear a lot like other young girls.

Have a search on Google for Titanium or Niobium jewellery. These shouldn't affect you. Grin
