...so what will make my horribly fine limp straight hair beautiful glossy and bouncy?

looks like I'm stuck with it then..

i'm a curly, so maybe not much help, but was looking at the naked range in boots today and they have an intense glossing treatment which may be worth a try? They have an offer on at the mo too,buy one get one 1/2 price I think it was... hope that helps, but not sure about the bounce!?

Bumperlicious · 10/03/2010 17:29

I want to know too!

claricebeansmum · 10/03/2010 17:35

I want body to my limp fine hair.
I would also like it not to be greasy after 24 hrs.

claricebeansmum, have you tried batiste dry shampoo for 2nd day hair? it's my latest discovery and I'm lovin it!

PoppityMoppityandCottontail · 10/03/2010 21:48

I reckon the same principles might apply with cutting out the silicones. They are what weighs the hair down apparently, so perhaps a cone free shampoo and conditioner would help?

buxomblonde · 11/03/2010 09:29

I'm a;lso interested in trying cone free and would love not to wash my hair each day

Am also really interested to hear some ideas on this. In the "how often do you wash your hair" poll I noticed that there were loads of us with skinny, flat hair that needs washed every day because everything weighs it down.
I have found the John Freida volume and thickening shampoo and blow dry spray is quite good. It's not "look at my big bouncy hair all of a sudden!" good - but it's the only one I've bought twice. And it's on special offer in Boots at the moment - buy 3 products for the price of 2, which helps as it's about £5 a pop. I couldn't find any of the Batiste product that was mentioned though.

I'm curly but I straighten, and my hair's very fine and quite dry. Was doing no sulphates/no silicones for a while and that was great, I used waitrose organic shampoo and conditioner.

But then went back to cones because tulpe recommended L'Oreal elvive renutritive (I think, it's the one with royal jelly anyway) and it is BRILLIANT! all shiny bouncy volume.

so thanks tulpe if you're around...

muggglewump · 11/03/2010 14:29

I have flat/thin/greasy after a day hair too. I tried the L'Oreal shampoo that Cheryl Cole advertises and love it. My hair is much bouncier, yet sleek and swishy. I do still need to wash it daily though, but I'd recommend this and it smells divine too and isn't pricey

mrsflux · 11/03/2010 14:54

i'm interested in finding this holy grail too!

if hair is weighed down by silicone how do you get rid of it? [is that a silly question emoticon]

just got naked shampoo by coincidence so will be keen to try it tomorrow for instant gorgeous hair!

PoppityMoppityandCottontail · 11/03/2010 19:29

You can get rid of the cones with Aussie miracle moist, then make sure anything you use afterwards doesn't have cones, but isn't as harsh (that's advice for curly hair, it may be that you should just keep using Aussie products? They do have one for limp fine hair, not sure if it has cones in it though) more advice on cones etc here and here

Products that are suitable here

Iatemyskinnyperson · 12/03/2010 23:58

I've had good success by using a light clear shampoo and avoiding conditioner like the plague. If I do use it, its a pea-size amount (I have jaw-length hair)

If my hair needs something, I use a tiny amount of serum strictly on the ends on wet hair.

When blow-drying, blow your hair the wrong way - i.e. flip your hair the opposite way to your parting. So when you flip it the right way, TA DAA! Instant volume.

I've also found that too much product is garunteed bad hair day, so I use a little mousse or light gel stuff at the most. Anything more and it gets static-y and dead looking. HTH
