What to wear to a christening?

Any ideas?
I am 5'5"
Slim, small but sagging norks!!!
Wide at the shoulders
Size 8-10

This is the first event I will be attending as a single parent, it is my Nephews christening so everyone knows what I have been through, and I want to look good.

I have a severely limited budget( have had to fork out for hotel as well) - under £50 for whole outfit, so if I could use some stuff I already have, so much the better.

Christening is Easter Sunday and I will have to drive for 3 hours in the outfit to get there.

I'm thinking a dress will work best for your figure & budget. Keep it simple & stylish. Avoid anything too short or fussy - that looks like you're trying too hard to impress.

Do you like this? If so just add a cardi & clutch in black or cream & you're sorted x

Thanks for the reply - I would like a dress, but rarely wear anything too dressy as am quite relaxed in my style.
I am not sure I would feel relaxed in that dress tbh. But the price is good

What do you already have, norks?

norksinmywaistband · 09/03/2010 21:34

I tend to live in skinny jeans and tunic tops/shirt dresses
I have a few dresses but I have dropped 2 dress sizes, so none of them fit anymore.
I would love something that could fit in with my normal style.
I was looking at Joe browns/fatface, but not sure it is dressy enough

I don't think Joe Browns or Fat Face is going to be dressy enough, but you could add some nice beads. I was in The White Stuff today and they have loads of nice beads (delicate & girly), they also has some nice scarves.

teadress?

Moneyspider · 10/03/2010 06:22

Nice, Clure.

If FF/JB is your usual style, try uttam

Is there a do afterwards? If not, I'd spend my money on a new coat. Church is always bloody freezing.

with this

or that

tights

necklace

courts

Moneyspider · 10/03/2010 07:47

this

nice with tan or nude perhaps. sounds wrong.

Thanks for all the ideas, I think the tea dress is the closest to something I would wear again tbh.

Any other ideas?

Clure · 10/03/2010 21:50

long sleeve floral
this could look great with right accessories

norksinmywaistband · 10/03/2010 21:54

Iove the long sleeve floral one - think I am sold.
what to wear in the way of shoes though?

Also I cannot see any info on the length of it!
It looks short on the model thing, but that would be taller than me wouldn't they

if you wore opaques and heels (chunky ish heels not stilleto types) you could get away with it a bit shorter. I just wear opaques and boots with all my dresses!
