Anyone bought "fake" ugg boots and been happy with them?

Am looking to buy new Ugg boots (Bailey Button - Chestnut if you are interested!) and they are approx £160 from Ugg Australia official outlets and around £70 / £80 from the "fake" websites.

I know the difference and I know which retailers sell the "real" Ugg Australia ones and which ones don't - but has anyone bought the unofficial ones and been happy with the quality?

isn't anyone going to admit to buying fake ones...?

Why do you want to buy fake ones? I only buy from the authorised stockists, I know there is a hugh price difference, but I'd rather pay and know that I've got Uggs not Fuggs.

I bought some fake Uggs from the local independent shoe shop for £6.95. They are fine if you don't wear them in the rain as they aren't waterproof.

I wouldn't pay £160, or even £70 for that matter, for a pair of boots. I'd rather spend the money on clothes etc. But if you want to spend it on Uggs, then try an outlet centre which may have the real thing at a discounted price.

Don't know whereabouts in the country you are but there is now an UGG outlet store at Bicester Village where they had Bailey button boots the other day (not sure I saw Chestnut though).

Depends why you're buying them I suppose with regards to the real or fake question. If just to look like you're wearing uggs then give the fakes a go but personally most of the reason I buy UGGS is because of the amazing quality.

I had real UGGS (the knitted ones) and a pair of UGG-alikes from M&S (the more conventional sheepskinny ones). I was disappointed with the quality and fit of the real UGGs which I only wore a few times and then sold on ebay. The M&S ones are miles better and they are still going strong despite lots of wear, and they cost half the price

That said, I wouldn't buy a pair of proper fake UGGS as the price is usually still exorbitant compared to the quality you'll get. I've seen real UGGS (I think) for sale in TK Maxx in Kingston at a discounted price.

They only cost about £40 in OZ so I reckon everyone's a bunch of mugs for paying that ridiculous price.

I bought some fake Uggs in America for $34. They were real sheepskin with real wool lining and I don't think they're any different from real ones. I'd be careful to get real sheepskin, not that fake stuff though. I love mine and wish I'd got 3 pairs.

MaggieBlack · 10/03/2010 08:17

they're over priced and i would never pay 170 for a pair of ugly boots. buy the fake ones. they're only fake as in 'not uggs. they're not fake boots. They are boots.

Ledodgy · 10/03/2010 08:24

EMUs are fab and cheaper than UGGS but they have the real australian sheepskin so keep you dry in the rain etc. I have a pair and they were fab in the snow my feet stayed warm and dry.

I am no where near an outlet store - or even a normal shop which sells Uggs - so use the internet for virtually everything.

I love the quality of real Uggs - whether it is stylish is debatable - but don't really care.

Some of the "fake" websites are selling boots which are also 100% sheepskin (certainly wouldn't go the Primark type of fake route...)and I don't think £70 is too much for boots if they are good quality and suspect the price of real Uggs is for the smuggness factor of knowing they are the real Ugg Australia boots whereas I like the look of the style and am more interested in them lasting and being super comfy.

Think I'll order a real pair and a pair from a good "fake" website and compare - if the fake ones seem to match the quality of the real ones - i'll keep the fakes and save the extra money!

Also I should mention that an 'Ugg' boot is actually any kind of Australian/ NZ sheepskin soft boot. Thus even the fakes are known as Uggs.

So really you are only paying the difference for a label.
