i thought I'd come away smooth and hairless- woman said it will take 2 wks at least for any effect to be evident...

Any tales of how good it is - please post, it bloody hurt too... but then it was where I've got weird nerves after my wisdom tooth extraction buggered my facial nerves

ooh will be interested to hear how it goes

I too thought it would eliminate them straight away , so do they just stop growing and fall out or what?

Where did you have it? I mean what part of your body. I want it but am quite fair so don't know if it wourld work so well, and it's my face I want it done as I have fine fair down (god I sound repulsive)

I have had IPL which is similar. The laser energy has killed the growing hairs but they are still attached to your skin. The will shed naturally in about 2 weeks. This will seem as if they are still growing though but you can pluck them - for some reason it's not advised, but it's very satisfying as they just fall out of the skin with no pain at all.
With regard to the pain in my experience of IPL the more it hurts the better it works. The darker the hairs the more energy they absorb so it does hurt more but thats all the better to kill them.

Hello
I had it on my chin and upper lip. Its being done at hospital clinic- not that that bit is relevant!

I've had hair issues (I've got PCOS) for about 10years but i didnt realise how bad it had got until I had to stop plucking in preparation for the treatment I must have been plucking and keeping them at bay at different times so I never saw all of the hairs at one time.

WelshDeb is right, where the hair is dark is where it hurt.

Claire- you dont sound repulsive at all but I know how you feel. I am so embarrassed about it I could barely discuss it with the nurse doing the treatment. It does seem that it works better on dark hair that is strong contrast to skin colour. I asked her to treat my sideburn area which is soft and downy and she did say that may not work so well. It really didnt hurt there so she might be right.

I will be going back in 6 wks but will keep you posted if any of the hairs fall out on their own in the next fortnight
