Miserable Milia

I have loads of milia. Loads and loads and loads of them.

They're under both eyes right down to my cheekbones and I have a few on my eyelids too. They seem to come and go but never completely disappear. I have loads at the moment and they're making me really miserable - I feel so ugly

I've tried exfoliating, not exforliating, moisturising, not moisturising, using an eye cream, not using eye cream, even breaking the skin with a pin and trying to pop them out but most are too deep to remove this way.

Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

I can't offer any advice as to how to get rid of them but I just wondered if you're being a bit hard on yourself.

If I look closely in the mirror I can see I have lots but from a foot or so away I don't think anyone else would notice.

Are yours very noticeable?

Do you wear foundation? If so have you tried Dior Nude? It gives really good coverage but you only need a tiny amount and leaves it skin looking bright. If you can't get rid of them they maybe covering them would help.

I don't wear foundation day to day Amandoh but even if I did, it can't cover the bumps. They're not too coloured as it is so it wouldn't make much difference.

I think it's because they're coming right down onto my cheeks at the moment so even wearing my glasses doesn't disguise them. They're probably not as obvious to anyone else but they're really getting me down

Between the ages of 15 - 21, I used to have loads all over my eyelids and the only way to get rid of them is to have them removed by a beautician - exfoliating, moisturising, eye cream, face packs will all have no effect and will not stop them forming.
The beautician will use a sterile pin type instrument to eject each one and it takes time and does hurt but over time, less will grow back and eventually, you should have very few or even none. I think I've had maybe 5 in the past decade.

Apparently it's to do with ones cholesterol levels, so maybe look into that and alter your diet accordingly.

I have a friend who had them all removed by laser surgery. She had scabs all over her face for about 10 days but they all went straight away and I don't think they have come back yet - imagine v. expensive though.

They're really close to the edges though, isn't that dangerous?

And some are really deep, they'd need digging out!

My dd had a couple on her face. I sterlised a needle & pierced the spot & then gently pressed the skin to get it out. Teeny tiny scab ( pin head size) & then all gone.

Would recommend a hot wet flannel on the area first though & then a cold one to take down any swelling.

Very satisfying

BTW I've heard about the cholestrol levels and I've also heard it's caused by not rubbing moisturiser in properly, or using one that is too rich - perhaps you could change your eye cream to a gel (once you've operated ?

GoldenSnitch · 06/03/2010 20:41

I've tried all sorts of moisturisers, creams and gels as well as not using anything - doesn't seem to make a difference.

Read today that they could be caused by having hot showers but I don't have my showers that hot as my 2 year old son always seems to want to get in with me!
