I saw a set if mineral ID in Debenhams today with a foundation, primer type powder, brushes and concealer. Would anyone recommend this make and if not, which is good please?

Also, what type of skin is it best for?

Thanks

Hi I've used ID bare minerals for about 5 years and although am somewhat a makeup junkie I always come back to this. I have slightly oily skin with some dry patches and I find it gives coverage of redness and also mattifies my oily bits. Sometimes I have to reapply during the day but basically by that I mean a sweep of foundation over my nose.
I think you can purchase a try me kit which gives you a foundation and a brush? This would be the least expensive way to try it, and you would be colour matched in the shop too. The only thing I will say is that the pots can be a bit messy - BUT in saying that I havebn't had to buy a pot for a while and I think they have re-thought the packaging so that there are less loose minerals when you open it up.

I have also recently purchased from QVC Laura geller balance and brighten which is a baked mineral powder. I am just trialling this out at the moment, but so far so good.
I think it's really trial and error to see what you think is best but I have tried the loreal minerals and found them to be too chalky in texture on my skin, and it is hard in the shop to get the right colour.
Elizabeth Arden also do a compact foundation minerals where you turn the lid and it 'grates' off the exact amount you will need for application. I found the EA to not be as much coverage - alothough it is buildable, but I also think it has very very small sparkles in it - something I am not too fond of if they are too obvious.
HTH, even if you get a chance in debenhams to apply the makeup by yourself and I say this as the sales assistants can cake your face. I will say the Id minerals stay true to their colour and IME do not oxidise on the skin or turn orange in any way.

ps meant to say also that if you have any flaky skin or dry patches it can highlight these, so make sure have exfoliated.

I've had some Laura Mercier mineral foundation which is excellent and would recommend. Try lilylolo on-line too as they do samples.

He has that set laughterlines and it is very good - it will last for ages. I also bought some mineral blusher too because I like blusher.

I keep all the bits in the box and even keep my usual makeup I.E. eyeliner etc in the box which is handy to keep everything together, and I don't bother with a makeup bag now.

I was made up by debenhms women and she only applied it lightly, but was very happy with result. It is very easy and quick, although sometimes I do still feel the urge for my usual mac tinted moisterisor and benetint so flit between this and the mineral makeup.

Thanks everyone, some really useful advice. I think I will go back and have another look.

Indigobarbie, I also looked the the Elizabeth Arden one, it seems a good idea to be able to grate the right amount.

I started with the bare minerals set, but I bought it in the US and was so shocked by how much it costs here that I cheaped out and have tried a couple of High Street mineral foundations that were rubbish in comparison. The bare minerals one is very nice.

I love Lily Lolo - www.lilylolo.co.uk/. Do order the little sample pots first though - I normally always need the palest foundation, but ordered that first and it was too pale even for me. Not all that keen on their eyeshadows, but love the foundations. I also use their kabuki brush - not as nice as mac but wildly cheaper. HTH.
