I have normal/dry skin and currently use Clarins multi active day cream, I quite like it but think there must be a better one out there.
Which one do you use?

Yes! Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream. I have similar skin type to you and think this is just fab. Keep trying to use something cheaper but always end up back with it. Cheapest place I've managed to find it is jerseybeautycompany.co.uk

JaynieB · 03/03/2010 22:59

Yes. I used to use a more expensive brand, but now use Olay - either Regenerist if I'm feeling generous with myself of the '7 signs' one whose name escapes me... Chum of mine is a beautician though and she swears by Dermalogica.

Nezzi · 03/03/2010 23:04

I've never used Dermalogica products although I've heard good things. I'll take a look at that site, thanks.
For some reason, I can't bring myself to use Olay stuff. I think it's because I remember it as Ulay at 2 quid a pop & now it Olay and much dearer. Silly, I know but...

Nezzi · 03/03/2010 23:07

Cheaper than I expected & cheaper than Clarins. That's a good start.

I'd forgotten the old name - wasn't it 'Oil of Ulay' that doesn't sound too appealing does it

meltedmarsbars · 03/03/2010 23:17

I use soap and water then baby oil.

Any brand, very thinly.

purplepeony · 03/03/2010 23:23

Clarins makes my skin sting.
I like Clinique Youth Surge and also Super defence- both come in different formulations for your type of skin.

BusyMummy78 · 03/03/2010 23:28

I used to use Clarins Multi Active Day Cream but switched last year to Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser & I love it! I use the normal/combination one during winter months & swap to the light version in the summer when my skin isn't so dry.

It's so good I don't need to wear much foundation as it gives me a radiant glow. I still use my clarins cleanser & toner, although will use the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish for a change. This is also a fab product.

BusyMummy78 · 03/03/2010 23:29

Liz Earle Moisturiser is half the price of Clarins (about £16.50).

Lutyens · 03/03/2010 23:33

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Day Cream.
Bloody amazing stuff. One of my desert island musts

Nezzi · 03/03/2010 23:42

Soap is too drying for my skin and I've never been a fan of Clinique.

BusyMummy78 I was thinking about trying Liz Earle stuff, I have the cleanse & polish & I really like it but I've never tried the moisturiser.

I've never understood toners

I met an old bloke in Boots once many years ago & he swore by Neutrogena.
Their lipsalve is good.

purplepeony · 04/03/2010 08:25

I think Liz Earle stuff is overrated. I bought the serum once and was not impressed- sticky and made not the slightest difference.
As an ex-eczema sufferer I have to be careful a nd Clinique and REN are the products that seem towork for me.

carciofi · 04/03/2010 08:27

I just started using Avene. Not too pricey and moisturising without being greasy.

Bucharest · 04/03/2010 08:32

Neal's Yard Frankincense cream.

T'is magic. After a few days you don't need foundation your skin looks so fab.

aquavit · 04/03/2010 10:26

Neal's Yard orange flower here. Wonderful (esp the night cream).

Also Kiehl's ultra facial moisturiser when skin is more dry.

LouIsOnAHighwayToHell · 04/03/2010 10:28

I have swapped to the superdrug optima range. I used to use clarins and clinique and find this to be just as good or better even.
I've also started using ponds cold cream as a cleanser every second day. My skin has never looked better.

Nezzi · 04/03/2010 13:40

Bloomin 'eck! It's like lucky dip!

Neal's Yard have got a new one out, I can't remember what it's called but it was advertised in their shop window. I remember there was a big fuss about the Frankincense cream when it first came out but I never got around to trying it.

Where to start...?

OP posts:
Nezzi · 04/03/2010 13:45

Just checked Neal's Yard, it wasn't a moisturiser, it's an elixir Wild Rose Beauty Elixir to be precise!

miche8 · 04/03/2010 19:59

The new marie claire mag that came out today has a free neals yard cream, sorry can't remember which one but shall be buying one tomorrow.

Nezzi · 04/03/2010 21:40

Oo! Thanks for that miche8 I'll have a look for Marie Claire tomorrow.

OP posts:
Bucharest · 05/03/2010 08:41

That Elemis one is also on QVC in gift sets on special offer from time to time...I got sucked into buying one at Christmas (ostensibly for my Mum) but it was so lovely I kept it. It smells like Dior's Poison.

topsi · 05/03/2010 08:50

Neostrata face cream plus, it's full of glycolic acid which exfoliates and smoothes
