It seems to be becoming more and more difficult to find appropriate clothes, you know - dont want to look 30 but not 70 either. Used to use Principle (has it closed down?), river island (too young) becoming really hard. Any ideas?

I'd forgotten about Isabella Oliver - the ruched dress with the Obi belt I treated myself to just before Christmas elicited Wows all round,a really good morale boost!

Age is just a number ladies!

The idea is to "be on trend" without looking as if you have round the bend!

The worst excesses of style I saw were on a flight one summer and in the holiday resort. Women in their 60s wearing tiny shorts and halter tops- with scraggy arms and legs- women onthe plane wearing sun dresses but deffo no bras- and droppy boobs.

50+ women in Waitrose- FGS-! when the sunshines wearing far too little clothing-and showing bits that really should be covered - again, usually terrible upper arms, crepey cleavages and chicken skin calves.

I have on the otherhand seen women well into their 60s- often in London- wearing skinny jeans with aplomb, black riding boots and neat jackets etc and they look fab.

I think most women on this thread will never look like that because you do care about how you look!

I think if you look good in terms of slim/hair/skin and don't have an ageing hairdo and colourful make up then the clothes are quite easy.Keep it simple stay with what you have always loved but as you say cover any weak areas.I don't say this out of disrespect for ageing btw just because when you are self conscious about something it really shows and looks uncomfortan]ble. I think glossy hair and skin is the key and teeth God I sound like a retriever!

you've forgotten the wet nose!

I agree with you,Cabbage.
I think you need to move slightly up market once past 40's,more Reiss,Jigsaw etc than Dorothy Perkins.
Having said that,Gap tees are great,I get the occasional thing in Topshop (not as much recently though, their vests are super thin nowadays...)and Zara and Warehouse always worth a look, imo
