Sisley products

I have recently run out of my usual face cream and used a few sachets of Sisley stuff a friend gave me and it is amazing.

Have any of you used their stuff? Does anywhere know somewhere reputable I can order from on line?

TIA

Hi MM

Haven't used it but am longing to so would love to hear how you get on with it.

This lot john lewis are supposed to be relatively reputable

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 08:12

ah yes, but their stock is really limited and they don't have the cream I want. I got a few sachets from a friend in Italy and it was lovely.

It is amazing but I went to the counter to ask for the cream I had used expecting it to be around £30. I soon changed my mind when I realised it was more expensive than creme de la mer. I do however use some of their cosmetics which I find fantastic, specifically the double blusher palette.

Sisley doesn't sell online in Europe - if you find a site selling Sisley you can be sure that it is not an official distributor.

Try a large department store. What about SpaceNK?

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 08:24

Thanks Bonsoir. I might just wait until I am back in Italy next month and get some there.

If you call a branch of John Lewis, they'll post any products out to you no problem. Just pay over the phone. You can also ask for some more samples of things to try.
They'll put you on their file so you'll know when they have their gift with purchase too then you'll be able to call again and get more stuff with free stuff.

Yes, I have worked in John Lewis, in cosmetics.

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 08:27

Thanks whosinthere

Do you ever go to France? Cosmetics are cheaper in France than in Italy.

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 08:41

I was in Paris last month but won't be going again until
summer. Thanks for the tip though. Is it a big enough price difference that would make it worth waiting to buy expensive products from Sisley?

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 01/03/2010 08:44

Generally it's quite significant - my DP runs a French chain of shops that sells cosmetics; he has a small Italian subsidiary and he finds the difference very significant because he won't shop for me in his Italian shops but makes me wait until he goes to one of his French shops (he has a staff discount so does all my cosmetics shopping for me).

His shops don't sell Sisley, though.

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 09:01

That's interesting, thank you.

Is it rude to ask what skin care products you use?

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 01/03/2010 09:06

No of course not!

I use Avène, A-DERMA, Bioderma and La Roche Posay brands mostly, which suit my very dry and sensitive skin, though I get loads of freebies and like Caudalie and Nuxe a lot too.

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 09:20

I've used Avène products before and liked them. Your dp's job sounds wonderful!

Thank you.

I used to use it but have since stopped as it's prohibitively expensive. I love it but have moved to Darphin which is pretty good especially for my dry and sensitive skin. You can buy it on space nk website. The cleansing water is really good and you don't need a toner.

Bonsoir · 01/03/2010 09:28

monkeysmama - you know what, when I was younger (in my 20s and early 30s) I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven if my then DP had run a chain of cosmetics shops and I had unlimited access to all those products and endless freebies!

I'm so blasée these days...

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 09:37

My dp brings home catalogues for high end construction materials . We met at work so
I'm vaguely interested but I'd be far more engaged by a nightly discussion about beauty products. You're very lucky.

Thank you Cobblers. It isn't cheap is it.

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 01/03/2010 09:40

LOL monkeysmama! Our nightly conversations are more often than not about logistics, stock management and the endless midlife crises of his senior management team

monkeysmama · 01/03/2010 09:45

Ah, very similar to ours then! I'm
not longer so though I doubt the freebies my dp brings home are as nice.

My nearest city doesn't have anyone who sells Sisley. I order over the phone from House of Fraser (Jolly's) in Bath and they post it out to me.

Badpups · 01/03/2010 10:42

A few years ago, (before children when I was still earning and could afford to treat myself) I went to the Sisley counter in Dickens and Jones in Regents Street (now closed). The did some sort of scan of my skin and then they persuaded me to buy loads of products assuring me that they would sort out my oily, acne scarred skin. I seem to remember that I spent well over £200 .

I used the products day and night as recommended and noticed no improvement to my skin at all. In fact it was slightly worse if anything. However, the products felt and smelt amazing!

I went back to using Clinique having learnt a very expensive lesson about being seduced by marketing hype and sales assistants.

I'm sure that others have had far more positive results with Sisley so maybe I was unlucky and it just doesn't suit my skin type.

Alouiseg · 01/03/2010 12:42

Wulliams and Griffin in Colchester has a Sisley counter and a website, they might be able to send stuff out to you.

KittyBigglesworth · 01/03/2010 18:21

Al Fayed's gaff also sells Sisley online.

KittyBigglesworth · 01/03/2010 18:27

Forgot to say to Badpups that I can't help missing Dickens & Jones and its fustiness.
