I am fed up of wearing the same things all the time, even though I have a massive wardrobe full of clothes, so I have decided that since dh is out tonight I shall have a major blitz, but I have no idea how yo go about it. any ideas?

I do this a couple of times a year and love it!

I often get a friend round to help and we drink wine and she takes anything I don't want but she does - then I return the favour another time.

If you are prepared for chaos then follow my method

Take out clothes by 'type' .I find it's easier to put up a 'temporary' clothes rail, but you can use your curtain rail if not.

So say, start with dresses. Have a good look / try them on, and sort into keep in wardrobe, keep in storage and give away.

Once it's pared down a little have another think then bag up /hang up/ store away as appropriate.

Then do the same with everything else.

Pay attention to if there are things you love but don't wear because they need altering/ mending, i.e loose buttons, too long trousers and put in a separate pile to be fixed.

Then once you've got a streamlined wardrobe you can look at what will look good together (always the fun part)

And don't forget to sort out your bags / shoes/ scarves etc as sometimes just adding a belt can make you love a dress you havent worn for ages again.

Yes I like DWP's method.

Friend is very good as she will give you honest feedback.

Can I add - if you have things you've not worn for a certain amount of time (I say 6mo except for very seasonal items, but you may prefer a year) they must go as you are never going to wear them if you haven't in that time.

That obv excludes things like ballgowns (!) wedding dresses etc.

Ok started, have put everythng that doesn't fit me into an suit case under the bed. turns out I may have loads of clothes, but over 50% were to small for me, wardrobe looks empty now, going to try and match some stuff up tonight with help of girlfriend and wine. Seem to have more going out stuff than I do every day stuff which is prob why I always end up in my skinny's with a t'shirt.

'Going out things' why not wear them every day?

Dresses can be dressed down with flat shoes, slouchy cardi etc, tops with jeans etc.

I no longer have 'for best' in my wardrobe as it seems a waste of money.

they are all 50's style prom dresses and things like that, suppose I could wear them all the time, just think I would feel a bit daft iykwim.

Depends where you live...

But I've been known to wear prom dresses with ballet pumps or even biker boots just for the school run.

Why have lovely things if you don't wear them? hhehe

I agree with DWP.

Also have noticed that if you wear the dress up things every day, people say how nice you look.

Things that don't fit you - out!

No point having stuff that's too small or too big. If/when you fit it again it will be out of style or you'll just want sthg new
