AArg, help me find nice clothes to breastfeed in!!

Have 4 week old ds2. I breastfed ds1 in oublic until he was 1 and never really felt happy with the clothes I had - I mostly had non-breastfeeding tops that I just sort of made work, and a few maternity tops that I kept wearing because I could feed in them easily. I breastfeed on demand so it's a constant issue!

Please help me find some nice things - I can't spend lots. I like this from frugi - www.welovefrugi.com/mother-clothes/nursing-wear/product/1377 - but that's right at the top of what I could spend. I like greys, greens, blues, and purples, and floral / boho type patterns. help help?

I bought a selection of cheap vest tops from Matalan - I think they were £2 each. They are ridiculously low cut -they literally expose most of your bra and I have no idea how you could wear them by themselves. Don't understand who apart from breastfeeders is buying them. Anyway, I wore them under normal tight t-shirts, just my usual stuff. I also occasionally wore wrap dresses with a normal vest top underneath. I had a couple of breastfeeding tops from mothercare but found them to be loads of hassle - one had a 'hidden under layer' thing, but completely attached to the top layer, so when you lift the top the whole thing comes up anyway, then you have to manouvre your boob through a little slit at the side - madness. Low cut vests the way to go. Or RoRo's idea sounds rather wonderful and hilarious - may also try that next time!

Vests under tops sound good......I'm more bothered about flashing my wobbly tummy that a bit of boob exposure

Bump bands and vest tops ride up though. I much preferred my spanx solution.

Hey sushistar I bought this a few days ago and wore it with a vest under today. Pulled the vest up and cardi to the side and feed DD no probs in John Lewis.

From Oasis -link here

I like that top chipsticksmammy - I have worn similar tops with a vest top underneath and find it very discreet.

ladylush - re the Tam Tam dress, it's a 'jewel' shade of purple I'd say - with red/pink undertones rather than blue, if you get me. I'm a 10-12 atm and it's a bit big on me so I'd say that it'd be good on 12-14. HTH. email me if you like [email protected]

I had some of these and wore with leggings and a cardi. not great if you have v. big boobs, but fine otherwise.

Have seen this advertised in a local family mag

I have the Frugi dress in black (although I haven't breastfed in two years) and just wanted to say that the sleeves are quite traily at the wrists - you'd want to roll them up before changing nappies in it

When I was actually breastfeeding I just wore ordinary tops and found the baby covered my tummy. I would have liked to have worn a dress, though.

I bought two boob tubes from topshop when I was pregnant and wore them so they stopped under my bra. Just like a long bump band but cheaper and they cover you up better. Turns most things into breastfeeding tops.

I've been to peacocks and bought some cheap vests for under normal clothes and shirts/shirt dresses!

All the online nursing stuff seems so plain...plain t-shirts, plain longsleeve tops etc yet expensive for what they are...Saw a nice looking wrapover top on John lewis for £25 which seems good...
