Talk to me about false eyelashes!

Are they noticeably better than eyelash curlers and a good mascara? Are they tricky to put on (and easy to fall off!)? Any brand recommendations?

Thanks!

Tricky at first but eventually you'll get the hang...

Best ones Ive found are the girls aloud ones in Superdrug (yes really!)

If you like the look but not the faffing ask your beautician for eyelash extensions- they'll last up to 2 weeks and trust me... once you've gone falsie you'll end up binning your curlers!

Thanks beth. Eyelash extensions?! Good Lord, who knew there was such a thing!!

Can they only be used once or are they reuseable?

I can second the fabulousness of the Girls Aloud ones . I felt rather daft as a 39 year old woman paying for them but they are just gorgeous and makes your eyes look wonderful. There are 4 different styles to choose from - from full-on drag queen style to just a little more padding than the natural look

They are fun but difficult.

You can re-use them if you're careful with them, but they look best first go. The key with them is to put the glue on and then WAIT - they become fiddly and difficult and refuse to stick when you try to apply them too soon as they glue needs time to get sticky. Wait til you think the glue is nearly dry and then apply.

I love them and don't find them difficult to use, but you will need to practise a bit. I have very fair skin and lashes so I tend to 'colour in' the gaps between my lashes with eyeliner pencil before applying the strip false lashes (you can get individual ones but never tried those at home - Benefit and MAC will apply them for you at the counter/in store with a semi-permanent glue that lasts up to 2 weeks - same for the strip ones if you want to try them out). I then hide the join with liquid liner (which you may not need if you're dark haired) and blend into my real lashes with mascara. Don't use a mascara wand that 'drags' too much or is too densely bristled though or you might pull the lashes off. If you're having a 'first attempt' you might be better off mascara-ing beforehand. If you have very dark lashes you might not need to use any mascara with the false lashes anyway - I have to use it as my lashes are dishwater blonde and they clash!

Love false lashes, good luck!

I love the Shu Umera ones. They're pricy but totally OTT and fabulous.
