Help! First job interview in 5 years and nothing to wear!

I have a job interview in two weeks' time, it's for a job in a library so public-facing but not super-smart. I am naturally scruffy and have lived in jeans and T-shirts since having the DC so guessing I need a new outfit!

Any ideas? I am size 10 and a shortarse, have easy access to Next, Topshop, River Island, HM, Dotty P, Oasis and New Look. Would ideally like something I can wear again even if I don't get the job!

a pair of black trousers and either a v neck plain jumper or a plain shirt. (probably go for a coloured top rather than black or white so as to stand out a little)

remember they are only really going to see your top half in the interview, so wear something on top that you feel makes you look smart and your best and do your makeup so you look healthy/happy (doesn't have to be dynasty-thick). don't worry massively about the bottom half/shoes, as long as they are appropriate ie, not trainers. I usually try and wear something colourful/a bit memorable on top as well - eg a nice necklace/scarf - so i don't look too boring and they have something to remember you by (they may be intervieiwng quite a lot of people!). but really as long as it's smartish and clean and fits you you'll be fine.
FYI i wore super-black, new skinnyish jeans (so don't really look like jeans) with a black top and vintage tweed jacket and handmade corsage to my job interview this week - twas in the arts mind; jeans might not work everywhere.

Thanks, do you think jeans are acceptable in this kind of interview?

No sorry you can't wear jeans-it's just it suggests lack of effort. I was in a similar position 6months ago- 7yrs of jeans. I got a plain black skirt for £4 from cancer research shop (I think H&M have something for everyone though) and wore it with shirt that I already had. Got the job!
Good luck.
