The Aari is a million times nicer than the Kupang, but I think that there is a danger of frumpiness unless you are very sleek about the rest of your look.

Flightattendant · 23/02/2010 11:50

I like the aari one (green) that's v nice.

The other one is a bit 70s sundress iyswim!

Monsoon have a few nice things this season coupled with the usual tack. if you go carefully you can get it right!

Bonsoir · 23/02/2010 11:50

If you are clever, you can use Monsoon to get an Antik Batik look for a fraction of the price...

fishie · 23/02/2010 11:51

when are you going to wear them/it? i am not a fan of either, but mainly because of the colours which may well be lovely for you.

luciemule · 23/02/2010 11:51

Prefer the Aari - Kupang would wash out pale skin types I think.
Is for a particular occasion?

laduree · 23/02/2010 12:39

Hi,thanks for all your replies, your opinions are much appreciated.

Have tried them both on,both looked lovely on and was actually surprised that I prefered the kupang. It could be though that I am sick of this cold bitter winter and am hankering after warmer days, iyswim.!!

The Aari my dh prefered, though he says I always looked noce which is good for the ego but not that helpful a comment.I was not sure if I made that looked frumpy with my extensive chest..{many years of breastfeeding taken its toll}.

Not for any occasion as such,love wearing dresses in the summer {probably too overdressed for school run!!}

Have recently bought a pair of gladiators from Aldo,Can't get link to work but they are the tellando pair, they would probably look good with the Aari dress.....

OP posts:
cahu · 23/02/2010 12:45

Laduree Think the Kupang will look lovely worn casually with tan, big sunglasses and gladiators.

Bonsoir · 23/02/2010 12:45

I would wear the Aari for the school run, with big sunglasses and pretty flat sandals.

cahu · 23/02/2010 12:57

Bonsoir we seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet, almost!!!

Bonsoir · 23/02/2010 12:59

I think Monsoon only really works if you are sleek and glam on the rest of you! IMVHO one piece from Monsoon goes a very long way!

This is true even for children - I have bought quite a few bits from Monsoon for DD over the years, but never a complete outfit.

laduree · 23/02/2010 12:59

Am going shopping on friday with girls so will try them on again I think.Am mow thinking I need new sunglasses...

Am finding it so hard to find nice clothes at the moment that I don't intially think could be frumpy. After my 2nd DS was born seem to spend a fortune in Boden but now look back and think I had embraced motherhood slightly too much and dressed far too old for my years!!!Combined with having a really terrible year last year having to face some serious health concerns,am determined that this year to enjoy life and to take pride in my appearance again.

Cutler & Gross sunglasses are the best! Beautiful designs, amazing quality and no horrible logo!

cahu · 23/02/2010 13:01

I agree, Bonsoir. My 8 year old DD has a lot of the smocky tops but dressed down instead of up.

Bonsoir · 23/02/2010 13:03

When DD was a baby I bought her Monsoon boys tops - white with beige embroidery, sort of Imran Khan style shirts - and dressed her in them with Gap bootleg jeans and pale pink Supergas - she looked amazing!

Bonsoir · 23/02/2010 13:04

Sorry for dreadful hijack, OP!

laduree · 23/02/2010 13:09

No need to apolgise at all.
I love the girls monsoon clothes, though have 2 DS.Have bought the boys some shorts from there and they are lovely.Just such a small selection.I do have a neice and another two neices on the way so I indulge them, though saying that when I was shopping with DS2 a few week ago he left Monsoon crying 'but I want a dress'!!

Will have a look at the sunglasses.

Have a good shop!

Have you been to the hairdresser recently, or redone your make-up? It's a good idea to get those things sorted before shopping for new clothes/new glam look.

EggyAllenPoe · 23/02/2010 13:14

i like the kupang - the fit is more flattering - I like the 70's sundress look. Reminds me of what my Mummy wore when i was Ikkle.

i would like it in a brighter set of colours though -
like this one i just can't find anywhere to buy it yet....

laduree · 23/02/2010 13:19

I have naturally curly hair so never looks any different unlesss I straighten it.Have thought about investing in ghds but don't have time in morning as far too lazy to get out of bed.Plus don't think I look like me if I have straight hair iyknim.
Don't really wear alot of makeup, just blusher, mascara and lip gloss unless going out.Am quite pale so think am going to investiagte spray tans this year.Used to worry about getting naked to have tan but now think there are other things to worry about.!!

laduree · 23/02/2010 15:53

That is a problem...

EggyAllenPoe · 23/02/2010 16:07

actually i really liked this one in monsoon, in terms of fabric/style, but was in two mind about the pattern

what do you ladies think? looks too much like primary school curtains circa 1975??
