Separates for a wedding

...in April so who knows what weather I will be dressing for! I always wear dresses to weddings but this time I will be accompanied by a breastfed 3-month-old and I would rather not show off my knickers when she gets peckish. Size 10/12 with the 3-month-post-partum flabby tum; short legs (so probably not trousers unless they are unusually flattering); I have some fabulous pewter high heels bought for a wedding last year that I would rather like to re-use but that isn't critical. Has anybody spotted anything fabulous out there? TIA

What about a breastfeeding dress?

boogeek · 22/02/2010 19:18

Hmm. Thanks. Not sure, really - have you any experience of them? I tried one once, when DD1 was tiny, and it was a bit rubbish, didn't fit properly and definitely didn't look elegant. Maybe designs have come on since then? - they do look nice on that page.

Sleeveless with buttons at the front that will slip off the shoulder?

Empire style for tummy.

Shawl/scarf/pashmina for coverage whilst feeding?

boogeek · 23/02/2010 09:39

No no no, too much flesh, even with a coverup! I am determined to go for separates, I'm just not very good at doing it in a stylish manner - was hoping somebody had spotted a skirt/top/jacket (?) combo around that would be super easy for me!

What about [[http://www.coast-stores.com/NEEMA-SKIRT/Skirts/coast/fcp-product/2133292489 this] skirt?

I've had this problem before. Ithink I wore a wrap dress.

crankytwanky · 23/02/2010 10:46

skirt
Sorry.

boogeek · 23/02/2010 14:00

ooh. Pretty skirt! Will have to try on to see if it works with short legs (but very high pewter shoes would go nicely). What do I put on top, please? Sorry, separates are so difficult
Didn't you find the wrap dress quite revealing? I have one on today because I know I won't have to feed in front of people (apart from the windowcleaner, it turns out).

I'd put on top something like the shell top, maybe in a brighter colour and a jacket or cardi. Lots of people wear pashmina style things to weddings I've noticed.
Or a flouncy blouse.

Most of the petite skirts I've looked at are really dark at the mo.

crankytwanky · 23/02/2010 14:19

The joleen jacket is nice.
What is your price range?

I'd go for something like this as I have upper-arm issues!

boogeek · 23/02/2010 14:26

Joleen jacket? Is that coast too?
I also dislke my upper arms so that Oasis top might work. Budget...I am a bit rubbish at budgets: the things you have found so far are affordable, other things would depend how much I liked them whether I would stretch - and whether I'd be able to tell myself they could be worn again

jacket?
or
blouse

Don't know if you could lift the blouse up discreetly though.

I've never been discreet though.
There are photos of my FILs wedding with my boob in the background during the vows!

boogeek · 24/02/2010 18:55

I don't mind hoiking things up and being indiscreet with acres of tummy on show, I just dislike pulling things down because it feels like loads of flesh that way!
I can see I need to make a trip to Coast. Fingers crossed!
