Need foundation. HELP (please.)

Hello, I desperately need to buy a good foundation for (probably) every-day use. I have wasted so much money on these things as I think they look okay and then decide my face looks a funny colour and never wear them again!
Can anyone recommend one for pale(ish) skin, matt, goes on easily and doesn't make me orange?
Please.
Thank you.

I'm using Dior's Nude foundation which is lovely. I also like Clinique Stay True which has the matte look you're after,(It's oil free) Vitalumiere wasn't for me, it isn't for everyone and it's not really all that matte, I think it's a bit cloying on the skin.

I vote for Chanel Vitalumiere - I love it.

Cocolepew: I tried the nude colour. It really is lovely but now it's looking lovely on my niece (who I have been keeping in makeup, plus her friends, since my search began.)

Parachutes - I think the trick is to go to a make-up counter, get them to put some on you and write it down for you, but then to go away and see how it looks when you get home... I speak from experience, as I have made lots of expensive mistakes in the past. I found Bare Minerals particularly bad - too dark and orange !!!!!!

My two favourites are
Clarins Instant Smooth- easiest one to put on I have ever used and looks so natural.

Lancome Ideal. great coverage for very little product and it lasts and lasts.

I think you should get some samples and experiment .

I second the mineral make up (Bare Essentuals and Lily Lolo are good). Go for the second palest shade as the palest ones tend to be a bit ghostly. Buy a kabuki brush. Swirl some of the powder onto the brush, buff it into your skin, and hey presto!

If you want matt then try prolumiere instead of vitalumiere. I have limpide, which I think is the palest shade.

Diorskin light. Expensive, but worth every penny...fab!

Thanks to everyone that responded; I have enough here to keep me busy for weeks.
I'm definitely going to get the Clarins Instant Smooth and take myself off to Bobbi Brown's counter. Thanks
