Two very different nights out- need ONE outfit

I have two nights out coming up and need something to wear. I hardly ever get out nowadays so want to look good especially as one will be with single mates and want to look like yummy mummy not sleep deprived slob.

One night out is nice restaurant for meal with dh in trendy part of town. The other is dh's birthday which is a karioki (sp) night!!!! (yuck but not my idea). That's in town too (the mainstream fights on a Saturday part) so prob drinks etc before and after.

What can I wear? I'd like summat new but have a newlook/ topshop kind of budget.

I'm 5foot2 size 10 top and 12 bottom. Tummy reasonably ok, boobs not what they were.

All suggestions gratefully received.

TIA

I'm

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 23:14

ok, so is the issue that you want to be funky for the karaoke, but chic and demure for the meal?

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 23:25

this is rather good

and I love this in the blue

funky

cute

mind you, some of the ones here are so cheap you could buy two anyway

PoppityPing · 18/02/2010 23:26

Is that kind of the thing, or are you loking for more glam?

mrsflux · 19/02/2010 08:53

poppity you have hit the nail on the head. Funky but chic is what I want.

Not sure about the suggestions tho. Do agree about the lbd tho.

Keep em coming please!

ps am 28 so felt the wallis ones were a bit too grown up iyswim

What do you think of this

OP posts:
Clure · 19/02/2010 10:38

how about this
this
this
this
this

Moneyspider · 19/02/2010 14:16

this with pumps and cardi for karaoke (am soo impressed that you can't spell that word: that's breeding, that it!) and with tights and tights/heels for dinner with DH.

FlopemOut · 19/02/2010 14:51

I love this dress.

mrsflux · 19/02/2010 15:04

clure the uttam one is the best so far i think

i'm not really confident enough for the body-con style suggestions
nor am i tall enough (i think) for the bubble skirt moneyspider flopemout - i can see why someone might like that but it's really not me and above my budget

i'm more girly (but not pink and frilly iyswim) than structured shapes if that makes sense

OP posts:
Moneyspider · 19/02/2010 16:15

greatly reduced

FrameyMcFrame · 19/02/2010 18:09

this?

FrameyMcFrame · 19/02/2010 18:18

or this

Moneyspider · 19/02/2010 18:24

OK, my powers of deduction tell me that you like lace (just call me marple)

this?

this?

Moneyspider · 19/02/2010 18:29

nice

mrsflux · 19/02/2010 20:26

Hmmm I quite like that last one moneyspider.

I do seem to have a lacy urge at the mo. Now to go shopping...

PoppityPing · 19/02/2010 23:26

I like the one you suggested mrsflux, what is missing for you there?

PoppityPing · 19/02/2010 23:33

this is nice

PoppityPing · 19/02/2010 23:34

more laciness

PoppityPing · 19/02/2010 23:39

do you do bling?

PoppityPing · 19/02/2010 23:41

Darimeya

mrsflux · 20/02/2010 09:08

I think it's the shape. I've never been a big dress wearer but since ds I'm even less sure what shapes are good or bad on me. Think I'll have to try on so will prob be a high street job rather than online only.

OP posts:
mrsflux · 26/02/2010 14:19

paniced BUMP!!!

i went shopping yesterday, without ds, and EVERYTHING made me look fat/ pregnant. which is silly as i'm a size 10/12!!

i'm now getting desperate and first night out is a week away!PLEASE HELP!!

Did you try oasis? this or even plainer thiswww.oasis-stores.com/Loop-Back-Dress/All-Dresses/oasis/fcp-product/3170068601 would be my choices - small boobs + high neck looks good, not so tall + structured but not too detailed.

I would go with sheer tights and high black courts for the meal and bright or patterned tights (checked black or electric blue would be my choice) and shoeboots for the kareoke night
