Thanks for all your help a few weeks back. Went and tried Austin Reed - lovely but 10 tight, 12 sack like. Plus tail end of sale meant no matching jackets etc.

In the end bought these - after seeing in the Times dress and matching jacket

Love it - so thanks for the dress idea. PLus leaves money for maybe a great bag...Think it would be OK with uniqlo heattech underneath and cashmere cardy to ring changes andintroduce colour. Plus kneelength boots or heels. Thanks ladies

Lovely dress!

I have one and wear it exactly as you say, with heat teach l-s tops under (in brighter colours often) and am planning on getting a cashmere cardi, currently wear a cropped round-neck fuschia one with it sometimes.

Could also get coloured belts, I think, when I start to get bored with it. Still wearing about once a week (only work 2.5 days!)

Thanks. Top tip with the belt - maybe patent purple. This dress is machine washable too. I got a couple of cashmere cardis a bit back in Sainsburys... £20 a piece - black and purple.

Exactly! I had my eye on this in the sale but haven't bought yet.

Will have to check out cashmere in Sainsburys then, thanks for the tip!

I love that dress.

Lovely dress and jacket. Don't know what I would do without heattech tops!

suggy · 18/02/2010 19:39

do you think a wide belt'd be okay ? That AR purple one is gorgeous...

I know I love the heattech... Wish they weren't so bumpy on their own

I think that purple belt would look great with the dress.
Agree that heattech need to be worn under something!

Does the lining of the M&S dress cling? I bought it but I am not sure whether to keep it as it seems that the lining with cling to my tights and that always annoys me! Can you link to cardigan that you recommend to go with it?

NorkilyChallenged · 18/02/2010 20:00

Yes it does cling a bit. I put a stitch at the sides at the bottom to hold in place a bit better which does improve it but not totally. So if it's something that really bothers you, then you might end up not wearing it.

I don't find it a huge problem as I wear to work, where I'm mainly sitting down anyway.

Think wide should be okay but haven't tested the theory myself. Tis a lovely belt though, isn't it?

suggy · 18/02/2010 21:00

Yeah I noticed it clung when I tried it on - but I liked the look of the dress. Will see if a slip helps... I have loads of skirts and dresses like that where it rises as I stridewalk and the frock all gathers round my crotch... Not my favourite look

The stitch sounds s good idea NC. May test as well with a patent/elastic one. Fruit corner - my cashmere cardys are sainsbo ones - round neck with diamante buttons (no online sales) and have black and dove grey. It was prob xmas sale stock.

Dress itself doesn't ride up, just the lining. Looks okay from the outside but does sometimes need adjusting
