AIBU to consider Crocs ballet flats for the summer?

MrsBadger · 15/02/2010 16:11

all my summer footwear is knackered and I have developed plantar fasciitis
The three bases I thought I needed covered were
a) casual sandals/flipflops
b) something for wetter days
c) somethign for being slightly more active (eg cycling) but without socks, perhaps something canvas

have bought fbaulously comfortable birkies to cover point a, but it strikes me that b & c might eb well served by a pair of Crocs Primas thus in brown.

Am I horribly deluded? will people point and laugh in the street?

coco same thing for me, they just don't suit my feet

cocolepew · 16/02/2010 15:33

I have supremely ugly toes, but now I'm nearly a OAP it's comfort over style. [flicks through Hotter catalogue]

I shall link to said insoles, hang on a mo.

cocolepew · 16/02/2010 15:38

Coo-ee Madge, I wear the 3/4 insoles in Converse, if you want the full insole I reccommend going up a half size in your shoes. It's the birko-tex ones I have they're nice and spong(e?)y. I take a 5 but the full ones fit perfectly into a 5 1/2 in Converse. I think I ordered a 38.

ah ok, clarification obv needed

I have had fallen arches for ages and usually wear arch supports like the Orthaheels MrsDinky linked to

however spending lots of time at home in just socks (snow, matleave) has obv exacerbated them as they now hurt and GP says tis full-on PF.

so am wearing new birkies (with toe post so no gripping with toes to keep on) round house
but
I can't wear them all summer as no good in rain or for bike

so I need somethoing light, sockless and summery I can put my arch supports in, pref that can be machine washed.
Really I want Doodles...

Mrs Badger I actually think the cros ballet shoes are rather cute - thanks for the link - will be ordering some!

MmeLindt · 16/02/2010 15:57

Coco
Fab. Never knew that you could buy the insoles of Birkenstocks. My Converse are a bit too big anyway so will order insoles right away.

MrsB
It might be that once your body gets back to normal that the PF goes away, or reduces a lot. I was told that the hormones relax the muscles and tendons towards the end of pregnancy and that is why pregnant women are prone to PF. Plus the weight gain.

I went up more than one shoe size during pregnancy.

Don't Nike do Doodle-like shoes?

piratecat · 16/02/2010 17:14

those sports type insoles with the arch suppurt are good. I have proper Birkies, but i don't find the arch high 'enough' for proper supprport.

mrs badger, you just need to get insoles, and go shoe shopping with them. i had the same problem, as did my dd, who has flat feet.
