What do you think of these sandals?

CaptainHaddock · 15/02/2010 14:21

I like chunky shoes and am not really one for high heels, but am looking for sandals to wear with skirts/dresses that are not flat.

Can I have some opinions on these, these, and these please?

Other suggestions gratefully received!

I think they're absolutely foul. Particularly the last ones. Sorry.

What about something like this?

or this?

CaptainHaddock · 15/02/2010 14:37

Hmmm, thanks Bunny but I think they are both a bit too feminine for my Hobbit feet

fugly - what a great word Fio

sorry, don't like the ones you have linked to, but how about
these
these
these
They all come in different colours if you search around.
Any good?

Cheappinkfizz · 15/02/2010 14:44

I like the wedgey art ones. I've always wanted some art shoes, they always look really comfy.

I'm looking for something similar in red for the summer

CaptainHaddock · 15/02/2010 15:02

Yes I like the Fly ones Ellie but not in white - how about these?

Am not in a desperate hurry to buy right now, but want some idea of what to look out for when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Cheappinkfizz - I have got some lace up art shoes and they are incredibly comfortable, but not exactly elegant!

I do like all of those, but only if you have tanned legs. First ones are the best I think.

I just bought these which I am hoping will be my heels-but-not-dressed-up sandals.

Lots more London fall into that category too I think

I rather like these and these

What about El Naturalista?

or Irregular Choice?

tethersend · 15/02/2010 15:06

I no longer fear hell

NellieTheEllie · 15/02/2010 15:12

Yes, those are nice. Fly are always comfy too
these are nice too

CaptainHaddock · 15/02/2010 15:16

Oh come now tethersend surely they're not that bad???

Thanks for the links Poppity - I fear ankle straps are not for me sadly, ankles are way too chunky to carry off that look.

CaptainHaddock · 15/02/2010 15:18

Less keen on those colours though Nellie.

moondog · 15/02/2010 16:08

Captain, those are minging.
The designer needs arresting.

As are the Fly monstrosities.

I'm keen on these Hasbeen t bar sky highs myself.

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 15/02/2010 16:43

Re the Art ones, I like the black wedges (middle one). Quite like the first ones, wouldn't wear those colours myself - depends what suits you though.

I've actually got a pair like the third ones in plain black suede - they do look better on than in the pic though. Surprisingly, I don't find them all that comfy, they are a bit too stiff and unyielding.

What about wedge flip-flops?

Rocket Dog flip flops

Skechers flip flops

I hate sandal season, always seem to end up in flip flops as it's really hard to find a nice-looking middle ground between old lady flats and strappy skyscrapers.

SixtyFootDoll · 15/02/2010 16:51

Op those sandals you linked are awful sorry.

GreatOrmondSt · 15/02/2010 16:57

sorry I agree I don't like any of them! You could try Birkenstocks, they're comfortable and trendy....I have some baby pink ones and I wear them with everything in the summer. They go with shorts, skirts or trousers....

Here's a link www.birkenstock.co.uk

Are they for a special occasion or just for general summer wear?

brimfull · 15/02/2010 17:11

moondog I love those hasbeens , have you ordered from them?

moondog · 15/02/2010 18:07

G, no not yet, but am about to.
Whaddya reckon, tan or black?
(Another MNer linked to them.)

brimfull · 16/02/2010 06:45

tan I think

hope they are comfy

tethersend · 16/02/2010 09:37

Let me know if they're comfy, moondog- think I'm gonna order a red slip on pair come payday

AnyFucker · 16/02/2010 09:40

those shoes linked in the first post are absolutely awful

are you a lentil-weaver by any chance ?

with unshaved legs/armpits and grubby fingernails ?

that is the picture I get when I see those monstrosities...

Cyb · 16/02/2010 09:43

those first shoes will be in my shoe room 101

MadameCastafiore · 16/02/2010 09:51

Bloody hell are you all hippie skirted geography teachers - every link that I have clicked on is absolutely vile!!!

You will look as though you have hooves in half of those fugly shoes!

chimchar · 16/02/2010 10:01

i love the flat art ones (third link in op)

dr martens used to do similar style ones.

but then, what do i know.....i wear uggs and crocs!

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 16/02/2010 10:29

I don't even have geography O level, but I do find chunky shoes balance out my chunky arse. Have finally given up wearing dainty things with thin straps that rip your feet apart - been there done that so many, many times.

I do like the Hasbeens (get one in each colour, Moondog ) but don't think I could wear them for more than about 10 mins due to heels and the fact that wooden soles are really jarring when you try and walk in them.

brimfull · 16/02/2010 16:24

yes the jarring would probably cripple me
my feet need lots of cushioning
