Navy tunic and black leggings - yes or NOOOOO?

I'm new to tunics and leggings and have a nice navy tunic but am not sure what to wear it with. I have some black leggings, is this ok or wrong?
What would the alternatives be?

I would wear denim jeans (mid-wash) but not black leggings.

sweetheart · 13/02/2010 08:43

I would wear it with black leggings for work (as we're not aloud denim) but at weekends I would team it with skinny jeans / jeggings and some brown knee high boots.

bunny my jeans look a bit bulky. I'm still searching for skinnies that fit!

I think navy and black are good together as long as it doesn't look as if you thought they were the same colour iyswim.
So the navy is definitely navy and the black is very black.

Do you like the TopShop Baxters (skinnies) or Marthas (straight leg - but beware, big difference in sizing based on the colour of the wash, as I found out...)? They are £40 and am a big fan (code for "could get my mummy tummy mostly within them").

If you want to spend more, hearing good things about Paige or Current Elliot skinnies, or spend less also hearing good things about the M&S indigo straight jeans that are £20.

cocolepew · 13/02/2010 09:11

I can't believe you corrected spelling.

Yes to navy and black.

hellsbelles · 13/02/2010 09:50

Black and navy is good together (perhaps try and have some accessories with both colours in - maybe a scarf or bracelet - which would bring the look together).

gah i can spell ;just not type.

aloud is aCOMMON one at work.
i blame cole

EdgarAllenSnow · 13/02/2010 10:01

i think i used to quite separatist about this, and insist on navy tights with blue dresses/ skirts, brown tights with brown clothes, etc...

but i suppose its ok, though blue bottom half as well would be better.

noddyholder · 13/02/2010 10:03

I love navy and black and brown and black. All blue looks terrible like school!

MarthaFarquhar · 13/02/2010 10:10

I think yes
but agree with ggirl that there needs to be a reasonable contrast
