Am dying a coat- colour advice needed.

It is a wool/acrylic mix so I have bought the hand wash Dylon- don't fancy putting it in the wash! Anyway I have got two colours of dye- 'tulip red' and 'antique grey' and wondering which to try.

The original coat is pink and cream tweedy with pink lining.
I know it might not take very well, but, well, I won't wear it the colour it is, so it's worth sacrificing i think.

which one? grey or red?

I think I'd go for tulip red. You might just end up with dusky pink with the grey.
Or, OTOH, if the you did the grey first and it wasn't any good, you could do it again with the red - that wouldn't work the other way around.

We shall see. Does the colour tend to deepen over the hour? And if you leave it in loads longer, what happens then?

Right. Been in two hours and coat is not a darker pink than before , but not red. So i took it out, added one of the sachets of antique grey and put it back in. its a sork of dusky plum now. but still in. I liked the colour though so put one of my greying bras in as well to update it! still think it might not be bright enough for me though.

Picture on profile- it still looks very pink (although it is darker/more dusky in RL) but believe me it us really different from before, the coat was properly barbified and was the sort of colour Katie Price would wear. Is more subtle now but still nice for spring

Right i'm off down the shops to get the dylon! Did you do it in the bath and just air dry it?

Did in stainless steel sink and short rinse cycle twice to get last bits of dye out. air dried on towel.
