Does anyone know if/where I can find size 2 walking shoes for my 16 month old?she has small feet but is getting very good at walking and would really like some proper shoes for her.I have looked everywhere but nowhere seems to sell proper shoes smaller than a size 3.Starting to wonder if my only option is for her to wear crawling shoes til her feet grow a bit but I took her out in some the other day and now they are ruined.

I've got the same problem with my son's titchy feet too. Clarks sell size 2 online: www.clarks.co.uk/find/productfamily-is-firstshoes/Size-is-_2infant (you can get a branch to check the measurement first)

I have an additional problem in that i'm trying to find shoes are small and that aren't leather!

Hi I've found the girls at Shoes On Ltd really helpful for my kids...I have a daughter who is narrow and a boy that has wide deep feet!
Their First Walkers all start at a UK size 2 with I WALK which is a great brand with really soft leather!
Here is their link

or just try www.ShoesOn.co.uk

Good luck!

Ricosta's Pepino brand makes first walking shoes that start at a size 1.5 and 2, so do Hush Puppies, Umi and Garvalin.
Try and find an independent selling one of those brands. They are all so much better quality and have more choice than Clarks too.

Buying shoes online is a minefield as even within one brand you will get different fits for the same size. It depends on how the shoe fastens, the depth, the material and you never can tell from a picture.

CakesandRoses - you will struggle to find non-leather shoes for little ones because most companies making fitted shoes will use leather as their primary material. It will mould to the child's foot and work well with the foot anatomy as well as being breathable and good for all weathers.
Non-leather shoes do not shape to the foot and can cause rubs and chafes and sweat will not be able to disperse either. Lots of the good manufacturers do make canvas shoes and trainers in the spring summer though. If I were you I would look out for them, it will be more of a problem in the winter though and even harder when you are looking for school shoes.
Crawling shoes are a complete waste of time of money - despite what Clarks might tell you there is no advantage to them and once the child is walking they are no good whatsoever. They are a money making exercise which doesn't benefit parents or children. Better to wait until your child is walking and get first shoes. Until they are walking children only need a bit of protection like a soft leather elasticated shoe - most of those can be washed anyway and if they still fit used as slippers for a while, so are more practical than crawler/cruiser shoes.
