What do we think of this frock?

Can I just ask opinions please...obviously one would not be obliged to wear the wooden spoon necklace. ici

I like the length, really and the stretchy cover-all nature of it generally. Plus the colour is quite nice.

Has anyone seen something similar but less ££?

I do generally find Gudrun things are a bad fit..

I really like it, but it is ££££.

MrsSawdust · 10/02/2010 07:28

S'ok. Doesn't make me leap for joy. I think that's cos I'm not keen on the colour. Style is nice though.

Cyb · 10/02/2010 07:33

I think its too 'covered up.', and verging on the frumpy, DESPITE the wooden spoon necklace

Cyb · 10/02/2010 07:35

reminds me of her

SixtyFootDoll · 10/02/2010 07:53

It looks like a sack and is the colour of baby poo

BigTillyMint · 10/02/2010 07:58

Shapeless, frumpy and a foul colour.

DON'T BUY IT!

Well, you did ask

LowLevelWhingeing · 10/02/2010 08:08

What a rip off!!

It looks like an old Asda nighty.

LowLevelWhingeing · 10/02/2010 08:09

or nightie even.

southeastastra · 10/02/2010 08:28

never heard of gudrun, stuff looks quite busy! where is it from?

RamblingRosa · 10/02/2010 08:30

I'm with sixty foot doll!

Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 09:49

Argh!

Lol at Julie Andrews though.

Hmm I might ring them up and cancel it then. Most of their stuff is totally shapeless and if it has a shape, it is a special kind of Norse shape.

I think they are Svedish, Sea.
Tis an odd little shop!

I've been looking at another Gudrun Sjoden dress - very similar style but dark red print - but am also concerned that it wouldn't be a good fit. (In fact I tried it on, since I happened upon a Gudrun Sjoden shop when I was in Hamburg for a weekend, and it wasn't all that, so I don't know why I'm looking at it now).

I did buy a black dress with a wide band of grey and magenta crochet at the hem and wrists (much nicer than it sounds) but it's close-fitting and on the knee - in fact not very typical of GS.

They gave it to me in a free shopper in that same red print, though, which made me very happy.

Bella32 · 10/02/2010 09:56

It's not as bad as this one

I always think, though, that if they can't make it look good on the model with perfect lighting and photoshop, what chance has it of looking good on a RL woman?

LowLevelWhingeing · 10/02/2010 09:58

God that looks like something you wear after a CS! Does it have ties up the back?

Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 09:59

ohh Vesela, that sounds gorgeous.

I was hoping for a close fitting, empire-ish dress for winter with long sleeves. I had a lovely topshop one for ages in jersey print but it has got too many holes in now!

Gudrun Sjöden pretends to be Scandinavian, but it is German. In Germany it appeals to lentil weaver types.

Agree with Bella. Most of their things look shapeless on the models and I have a colleague who wears their stuff top to toe. I'd rather wear a potatoe sack! Would at least be cheaper

Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 10:06

Oh are they German? That's pissed me off!

How disingenuous.

Hmm I still really do like the shape of that yellow thing though.
I back-ordered a small, so should be quite fitted. That's another thing, the sizing tends to be weird.

S is 8-10, apparently, and M is 12-14. I'm a 10-12 and it varies enormously even among GS stuff.

The amount I have sent back...urgh!

OP posts:
Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 10:07

and they don't normally tell you stuff is out of stock till they ahve sent the pair of socks you ordered as an extra, with £5 postage or whatever

vesela · 10/02/2010 10:10

Fritzi, that's exactly who was in the Hamburg shop and it was fairly offputting! (They did have a nice children's corner, though).

vesela · 10/02/2010 10:13

would also be very if they didn't tell me something was out of stock until then. There's no excuse for that.

EleanorBuntingCupcake · 10/02/2010 10:18

how sweet, its an old lady

vesela · 10/02/2010 10:20

re. where they come from - the actual design company is Gudrun Sjoden AB, though - doesn't that make them Swedish? They have a German GmBH company too but I presume that's for marketing.

Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 10:20

Bloody hell!!!!

OP posts:
Flightattendant · 10/02/2010 10:21

Sorry that was to Eleanora!

What are they thinking?!!
