What sort of person wears BODEN

Are you tall and thin? The clothes look really nice in the brochure but I am short, bit plump and big boobed. Would their clothes fit well do you think? Will NOT show cleavage so I need to know their clothes with cover. Any help ladies please

I am tall and relatively thin, but I can't buy tops from Boden because they're way too short in the body. So you might find those OK.

CherylsLeftCashley · 06/02/2010 13:27

I am tall and curvy and Boden looks awful on me. It is definitely for skinny minnies. All those floaty sundresses and thin knits. Only a size 10 or under could carry them off...

SixtyFootDoll · 06/02/2010 13:38

Thier rousers are def for those with longer, slim legs.
ie Not me

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 06/02/2010 13:45

Def. keep away from the tops, they are far too short.

I'm 5'9", boden size 12, trousers and dresses are fine.

MarthaFarquhar · 06/02/2010 13:49

I'm tall and pear shaped, and find the dresses fit really well.
I'm not sure that they'd be a great fit on those more blessed in the breast department. I'm 5'9" and take the regular length, so imagine one would need to be very tall indeed to fit the longer length.

onlyjoinedforoffers · 06/02/2010 13:49

i disagree mot of the tops are a good length i am a large lady and their stuff suits me so meh

Eve4Walle · 06/02/2010 14:47

I'm a tallish size 16, their tops are great length wise on me and the dresses fine too.

Much of if it quite flattering I find.

noddyholder · 06/02/2010 14:48

I agree with cheryl tall willowy types look elegant everyone else looks like a bunpkin!

Paolosgirl · 06/02/2010 14:53

I'm 5' 2" and eight stone. Their tops are fine but trousers and long/knee length skirts are ridiculously long. When will they start offering petite length, I wonder?

Ziggurat · 06/02/2010 15:01

I'm only 5'9" and find the longer length trousers too short! Or at least too short to wear with heels.

Paolosgirl · 06/02/2010 15:03

Only five nine...sigh....

cornsilk · 06/02/2010 15:10

I think you just have to order what you like and have a try. I find the sizes are very erratic - some fits, some doesn't.

LaDiDaDi · 06/02/2010 15:14

I find the tops quite long tbh. I'm a size 8 5'5". Never ordered trousers.

Suburbanite · 06/02/2010 15:21

i think it depends more on the style of the item.
i am 5'6'' and the lengths are good - i go for longer length if i want to wear heels

anything with darted/empire line bust is however not worth bothering with, as i know they won't fit my G cup
other tops fine - love their cardis

PoppityPing · 06/02/2010 15:29

I'm 5'10", size 10/12 and I need their long length things, I generally stay away from tops too as the body and arms are never long enough.

They do a lot of tops that I think would flatter biggish boobs, although am not blessed enough to comment officially on that!

Flightattendant · 06/02/2010 15:47

Boden tops far too short I concur. Thought it was just me!

I have a bet with ds1 that if he sees a single person wearing that appalling checked coat at the front of the catalogue, I will give him £1.

I feel fairly safe in this contract.

MmeLindt · 06/02/2010 15:53

I am short and plump (size 14/16) and am delighted to report that the sleeves are the right length - I normally have to have the sleeves shortened when I buy a blouse.

The 16 is a bit nippy in the bust though.

Feelingoptimistic · 06/02/2010 16:03

Paolosgirls - why not just get the trousers taken up?

fortyplus · 06/02/2010 16:34

Ok... so moving on from what size you have to be...

What sort of person wears those HIDEOUS prints??

And I know the answer... twee mummies who live in Harpenden!

Lulumama · 06/02/2010 16:36

memorylane, i am the same shape as you.. the tops can by low cut, but i often where a cami/vest under or a scarf over to cover too much cleavage

the long line tunics i find are v v flattering

Eve4Walle · 06/02/2010 16:40

I have this Mac - it maybe is a bit too twee but I have to say I have never had so many compliments about an item of clothing, ever! Someone comments on how lovely it is pretty much every time I wear it.

It is the only boden item I have that is a print though, except for the tea dress in the A/W 09 cat.

aarghhelp · 06/02/2010 16:46

I thought that mac looked twee on the website but then I saw someone wearing it at a music festival - girl in her twenties, auburn hair, lovely skin, otherwise wearing slightly grungy black lycra-ish festival wear, and it looked very good on her. It looked less good on the pensioner I saw wearing it in my village a month later.

fishie · 06/02/2010 16:50

i find their arms unusually nice and long poppity, but i am shorter than you.

their skirts and dresses are frumpily too long and wrong proportions for me.

i do buy coats there for arm length reasons and their shoes are v good quality.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/02/2010 16:53

I'm short and fat and they all fit me fine. I wear the stretchy jersey tops and dresses and not the fitted stuff.

MaggieTaSeFuar · 06/02/2010 16:54

memorylane, no boden clothes aren't for short women. I'm five foot 2 and even though i love the children's clothes, nothing would look good on me. I don't even have to try it on to know, i can tell just from looking at the catalogue!! all those long tunics and 'knee length' dresses and skirts that would sit frumpily at 3 inches below my knees!

don't worry about it. there are other shops! i actually boycott shops that don't do a petite range. It annoys me. If they don't do a 30 inch leg length then I'm not going to buy a jumper there either. Oasis P* me off for that reason. their trouser lengths are 32 and 34.

Boden sizes go up really big though I notice. to size 20 I think. So maybe it's fat people that wear boden? although I'm sure that's not what Johnny wants us to believe.
