Help! I'm going back to work shortly and need help. I'm a size 12 - 14 primary school teacher in my late 20's. I want to look smart yet my clothes need to be practical. I also want to dress my age.I lived in shapeless cardigans before I went off on maternity leave. Please help me with suggestions!

don't wear brown

are your legs good?

how tall are you?

no fabric corsages on your cardi or swirly ankle length skirts

this jacket is LOVELY
these tops are v nicely shaped

What kind of skirt suits you?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/02/2010 23:49

You might be happier in trews?

fozzy26 · 01/02/2010 23:52

Fozzy -

fozzy26 · 01/02/2010 23:59

Monty27 - Think I'm painting a false picture! Even I think I sound good looking from that description!!! I also have a wobbly tummy and top of my arms! Fully intend to be lifting baked bean tins (or my 8 month old son) to tone them for summer!

BoysAreLikeDogs - I think the t-shirts would defin. suit. Not sure about the jacket as I am a DD cup. Thanks for your suggestions!

Fozzy - I'm sure you're lovely!

What about nice shortish black skirts, lycra (coloured?) and pumps, maybe ruffly shirts and jackets, or plainer tops with accessories?

Accessories keep you young and interesting, done tastefully of course (lol) imho.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 02/02/2010 00:34

And absolutely no jazzy art teacher stylee bright bright glasses perched on your head with hair up and skewered with chopsticks

mrsflux · 02/02/2010 08:47

word of warning about m&s from a fellow 20 something teacher. be careful that none of the other older TAs/ teachers have something similar.
there's nothing worse than turning up in your new, stylish find from m&s only for a very happy 40-50 something to say 'ooh i've got that at home!'
guaranteed to make you feel mumsy no matter what you're wearing!

Monty100 · 02/02/2010 11:40

Grrr

'lycra (coloured?) TIGHTS'

jamaisjedors · 02/02/2010 11:43

Hmm, short skirts not the best for sitting down on the floor with kids or kids looking up your skirt from low chairs!!!

Monty100 · 02/02/2010 11:58

Ohh jamais, that's very true.

Fozzy - trousers it is!
