Can I have a knitted dress altered at the dry cleaners?

Or will they wreck it?

I have a knitted Zara dress from a couple of years ago which is mid calf and looks frumpy on me so I want it to be shortened to just above the knee.

Has anyone ever had this done at the dry cleaners?

TIA

I am a dry cleaner and we have a tailor..He won't touch anything that is knitted because it is a weave you can't cut it or something. I can't sew so am unsure of the exact reason but it has always been a no no. If your dey cleaners has any sense it won't take it in if they are unsure. hth
