maternity clothes - help!

I'm 12 weeks with my second baby, and last time I muddled through with clothing. I've got an evening wedding thing to go to when I'll be 19 weeks, and whilst I don't have to dress up too much, i want to look like I've made some kind of effort!
I'm five foot nothing, was about a size 18 at the beginning, though i have put on about 10lbs already, plus I have a 34h chest. When I was pregnant last time, I didn't develop one of those nice defined bumps I just seemed to spread!
So, I'm after advice on styles to try that I might normally say no to, I usually wear a line/ flared skirts, cords, purples, brown, green. Are wrap style tops good to 'define' shape a bit more? Any ideas on where to buy size18/20 maternity clothes that don't cost the earth. I want to look/feel less blobby this time!

I like this- I was an 18 and size 4 fitted fine. Also this could be good dressed up with gold accessories, but only in 16 (may stretch)... this would be fab with coloured tights- or this? What's your budget?

Hmm, they're a bit too dressy for me, I don't do prints, and have stayed away from dresses as have always had trouble finding a good fit due to large chest and wide hips. I tend to veer towards whitestuff/kew(but not lately) and mistral. would love the asos one but I'm sure it wouldnt suit a short arse like me! Idon't have a isabelle oliver budget, which doesn't help either! Love some stuff in jojomamanbebe, but they only to a 16!

IO worth seeking out on ebay

I had exactly the same dilemna last year. Wedding at 18 weeks pg, size 20 with HH norks.

I bought an empire line dress (stretchy fabric) from M&S. Not special maternity one but hid my belly iyswim...

Will be keeping an eye on ebay, Mrsbadger, as have funds in there at the moment. I always find it hard to dress up a bit as it is, even without being pregnant!
I had been thinking about something a bit empire line, Cece, as usually that makes me look pregnant, but I actually would be! I'll try some on, though often those style of tops/dresses end up with the empire bit right across my nipple line! It may separate out what is chest and belly though!

So... no dresses? Or just no long ones?

Would you do tunic and trouser combo like this, or would you prefer skirts and tops?

hophophippidtyhop · 31/01/2010 17:34

No frocks, last wore one about 18 years ago!skirt and tops or trouser and tops, maybe a long tunic something like this - I just feel unsure if it would suit me as I've never worn that kind of combination. Any ideas of good sites to look through would be great, not just for the wedding, but in general.

Hmm... next aren't bad, limited collection, but this is nice; I kow you said no dresses, but this is lovely, and has the wrap detail you metioned. You also linked to a dress, so forgive me for trying to shoehorn one in there

tethersend · 31/01/2010 17:50

New look not bad and up to an 18

tethersend · 31/01/2010 17:58

this is similar to the one you linked to... this also nice.

Here is a directory of plus sized maternity websites.

hophophippidtyhop · 31/01/2010 19:45

Oo, like the look of a few bits on lareoute - didn't think of looking there, and the directory looks good. Have been googling with not much sucess. Many thanks, Tethersend
