Recommendations for hair-straighteners, pretty please?

I have had a new haircut and although it works ok without straighteners (my hair is v. flat anyway), when it's straightened by the hairdresser it looks far more sleek, groomed and stylish.

Thus far I have tried to hold out against buying a pair , but have come to the conclusion that in order to prevent 'wild woman of wongo' hair first thing in the morning it would be good to get a pair.

Now, I am utterly clueless about grooming in general, so please may I have your recommendations?

I have a short graduated bob with long bits at the front and not a lot of time to spend faffing with it - are GHDs worth the money? How long do they last? I seem to recall reading that they burn out after a while?

As I said, I'm clueless, so all advice gratefully received!

I have had several pairs, but my GHDs are BY FAR the best. Well worth shelling out for.

If they break, you can generally get them repaired for about £15 on eBay (I did).

GHDs are defo worth it
i have had mine for 6 years

GHDs are well worth the money - and if liek mine they break, you can get them repaired for a fee, which is less than half the cost of replacement, yet mine were in fact replaced rather than fixed, so a great investment. I've had mine about 8 yrs now

Another GHD fan here - I got mine through a cashback site which helped reduce the cost a little. That was about five years ago and they're still going strong.

I tried some £15 ones first but they were rubbish. GHDs are the way forward!

GHD are v good, I borrowed a friends, they are excellent. But the cheap-skate that I am, couldn't spend the £100, I got the babyliss cordless ones which are good.

If you can't afford ghd's just check out the temperature the cheaper ones go up to, if your hairs flat anyway, ones that go up to 210C will be more than enough.
Check out the reviews on the argos site as well.

Thanks all, so it seems GHDs are the way to go... now if only they sold them in Tesco so I could 'lose' them in the shopping bill...
