Welly 'wearage'

Is it acceptable to have lunch (cafe / country pub) wearing wellies now?

I used to reserve them just for fields/ walks, but now increasingly see them worn more in the way of a general boot. I was intrigued the other day to see that Hunter are even marketing some of their wellies for general wearage now (the Jimmy Choo partnership jobbies).

My wellies are tidy and not usually mud spattered (unless unavoidably so in course of getting to said cafe / pub!)

Sweaty feet, ugh. I wouldnt. It looks a bit "oooh look at me, I've got a pair of hunters, theyre much too good to get muddy so Im wearing them at an oh so rural pub lunch"

normal weather=flat heeled shoes
snow = snow boots
heavy rain? gum boots maybe, but only if you have walked across the fields to get there.

Well that was my point rather, I would have walked across fields to get there Should I carry something to change into? Or wear inappropriate footwear for the walk to avoid risk of looking like poseur (heaven help us) in wellies?!

I often wear my wellies in the pub whether it be for a pub lunch or a drink, if I have walked there.

Wear them! Don't carry something to change into! Enjoy your lunch out!

wear them but untuck your trousers when you get there so its not as obvious IYSWIM
