spanx me...

So it seems that shapewear and I must become friends.

What's the best thing for a jelly belly? I had a c-section 4 months ago, most of the rest of it is starting to toe the line but my tummy is still hanging around...

I need it to wear under my lovely new wrap jersey dress.

i've got spanx that start at the bra line and go down to my knees

they can roll down a bit though (and the saleswoman was anxious to discuss the wee hole... but i'm not)

VigourMortis · 29/01/2010 18:43

Yes, I think that's where I'm heading. So is it uncomfortable?

no, but i haven't quite worked out how to keep them up without that unglam 'hauling' thing every so often...

doubtless this means i've got the wrong size or something, but surely that's the point

justallovertheplace · 29/01/2010 19:01

I don't think Spank are actually the best bet under a jersey dress. They have a whacking great seam that runs right down the middle so it's patently obvious that you've got them on

VigourMortis · 29/01/2010 19:44

Hmn, good thinking - I've found these which might be more comfortable? Looks like you can haul it all upwards

she's not exactly got extra flesh though, that model... i'd need to see what happened a la waist roll... (for jelly belly after cs, how far up does your, er, jelly go? it's been 10 years since my cs, and i vaguely recall it was rather more to do with gravity and loose flesh, so waist rolls may not be an issue...)

had no idea figleaves did shapers... you learn something every day!

Gok Wan's look promising, but I haven't tried them. I think the Divine Outline shows some promise.

CMOTdibbler · 29/01/2010 20:24

Under a jersey dress I think a control slip is your best bet - that way you don't get any odd lines, and they don't fall down giving you even odder lines. Marks and Spencer do a good one, and you can wear tummy control knickers underneath too if you feel it really needs it

VigourMortis · 29/01/2010 20:49

Well, I've got fat on the front of my tummy but not particularly on my hips, so heavy-duty pants could squish it in although there's no telling where it will migrate to though

mwita you're right about that model

Gok's and M&S are cheaper though - i wonder if it's the sort of thing that's worth spending more money on. I'd pay extra for comfort i think.

Vigourmortis I was looking for control the jelly belly underwear for under a specific dress for a wedding I took my dress with me to John Lewis and tried on 3 different brands. I ended up buying the spanx ones (boob to knee) as they showed the least.

Only problem was when I was sitting down and my below knee dress rode up I realised I could see my knickers

madwomanintheattic · 30/01/2010 00:19

oo, i like the look of those gok ones, and the m&s ones! they look like they are definitely worth a try... wish i could see the back though...

i had no idea gok did so many shapes lol. who knew? i may have to spend a little more time in s&b...
