Am considering them for this summer.Anyone got any? Think they're any good? They brag helping all sorts of back/muscle problems, but no mention of SPD (still suffering 11months after birth ) Anyone know if they help SPD/PGP? Thanks

I adore mine, had them for 2 years now on the advice of my physio (I tore the ligament in my knee)

I wear the summer ones and the winter ones and must admit (apart from baulking at the price to start with) they are the comfiest things I have ever had !

One of the mums at school wears then after really bad lower back pain after her 3rd child and she swears by them too.

TuppyGlossop · 29/01/2010 14:58

I bought a pair for a holiday where I knew I would be doing a great deal of city walking. I had had a niggling knee injury and thought they may help. They were brilliant. Not only were they comfy but my knee did not bother me once. Choose your colour wisely though - I bought mine when they were hard to find and all I could buy were the sparkly gold. When the sun shone I ressembled the second coming in a big glittery pool of light. This year I will purchase the navy!

clayre · 29/01/2010 15:03

my mum wears them all year round as they help her back problems, she has nerve and muscle damage in the bottom of her back, she swears by them, they are also the only footwear she can wear comfortably with her bunion!

blossoming · 29/01/2010 17:38

I've got a pair, size 41, silver that I've never worn if you fancy.

Cadelaide · 29/01/2010 17:44

I love the idea but I think they look horrid.

Sorry, not helpful at all

Pinkmarshmallow · 29/01/2010 19:55

Thank you, blossoming, that is kind of you, but they'd be a bit big for me, I'm about a 37/38!

You could also try MBT shoes / trainers. Not pretty to look at but they really work your legs and butt! Have had a pair for a few weeks now and you can really feel the difference when you walk in them.

EML100 · 29/01/2010 21:52

PS If you live near Portsmouth there is an MBT outlet store at Gunwharf Quays.

blossoming - how much do you want for yours? They'd fit me!

blossoming · 30/01/2010 11:04

Make me an offer, they're just sitting in the drawer gathering dust

misshardbroom · 30/01/2010 12:16

Oh God I don't know, I am really really really rubbish at this sort of thing. I am the person who gave away a £250 John Lewis changing table for £35 because I couldn't haggle.

The cheapest I've seen them online brand new is £28 reduced on Sweaty Betty site.

So maybe somewhere between Having a Laugh and £28???

(said I was rubbish at this, didn't I?)

cocolepew · 30/01/2010 12:19

You need a oestopath/chiropractor for your SPD first.

Pinkmarshmallow · 30/01/2010 13:01

cocolepew, I have been seeing physio regularly for over a year now with this prob

OP posts:
blossoming · 30/01/2010 13:12

Hi misshardbroom. What about £20? When I get a minute I'll organise c-a-t payment so I can e-mail you and discuss further.

GhoulsAreLoud · 30/01/2010 13:16

Mine gave me really bad cracked heels which I've never, ever had before so sure it was the shoes.

misshardbroom · 30/01/2010 19:02

blossoming - it sounds like a bargain.

CAT me when you have a chance and we'll sort it out.

Thanks very much!

Sorry to OP for hijacking thread

cocolepew · 30/01/2010 19:16

Pink, physio isn't enough, I had it too but if you go to either a chiropractor or oestopath you should see a big difference.

I'm neither of the 2 touting for business BTW

giveitago · 30/01/2010 22:01

I have fitflops and MBTs

I find fitflops comfy but you best buy them instore for fitting - heard that the elastic ones wear out very fast.

Comfy - that's it (but I have no back, knee issues).

MBTs are UGLY - but give you a great work out when you walk - they have an negative heel which means when standing still you rock back and forth - sand when I walk.

But UGLY.I wore mine when pregnant - even to physio and they didn't think it a problem.

Pinkmarshmallow · 31/01/2010 19:50

Ghouls, I always get cracked heels in summer when wearing open shoes, so will be moisturing with my special foot cream anyway.

misshardbroom, no wories, glad this thread is of use to others too.

cocolepew, my physio said I really only have a problem if I'm still sore a year after delivery.... that will be at the end of next month, so if I still have probs then, I am thinking of going to an osteo/chiro.... other MNers have also recommeded that to me....looks like I will have to start saving for it

giveitago, that's good to know about the elastic ones, thanks for the tip. THey sell them in our local shoe shop so I'll be able to get a pro fitting done, think I'll take a dander into town this week and try them on....

OP posts:
Pinkmarshmallow · 31/01/2010 19:51

P.S. Agree, MBTs are ugly, especially with light summer clothes, so will try the fitflps first.

OP posts:
GhoulsAreLoud · 31/01/2010 19:56

Pinkmarhsmallows I always wear open shoes in summer but none have ever given me cracked heels, only fitflops.

I won't be bothering with them again.

orienteerer · 31/01/2010 19:58

I wish they did a ladies one (not slipper/boot) without a toepost, I want to buy a pair but they are too uncomfortable between my toes.

Orienteerer I have seen some kind of mould that can go around toe posts to make flip flops more comfortable, think it was M&S that I saw them in, maybe worth a try? they were clear so invisible.

"herbietea" so sorry you have it still after 13 years and chiro/osteo didn't help? "you can only walk a few steps unaided".... poor u! r u using crutches or what? xxx
