Am trying to find something reasonably stylish to sit in my kitchen and collect my recycling before I take it out each night...
To fit in the space I have it is a toss up between
this basket from John Lewis kinda cool?
regular bin dull?
or
storage bag from Cath Kidston pricy but goes with other stuff in kitchen...

Any votes for me please? [hopeful]

The first link doesn't work for me and the second is a cream John Lewis bin ?
I prefer that to the KC bag if that helps

cookielove · 27/01/2010 20:48

1st link doesn't work

2nd one is ok

3rd wow that is bright but to much for my taste

allaboutme · 27/01/2010 20:51

Try again with first link

Hope that works!

Yes, 2nd one is plain cream bin.

Guess the KC bag not popular choice so far!!

I saw some lovely ones in Heal's today.

alarkaspree · 27/01/2010 20:57

If you get a normal bin, visitors will put normal rubbish in it.

Number 1

allaboutme · 27/01/2010 20:59

V good point re normal bin, thank you.
Have mentally struck normal bin off my list!

Will have little look on Heals site too

1st one winning so far then, and its the cheapest, so thats a bonus

1st one: it's OK. I would worry about it not being wipeable.

2nd is just fine, not wow, but nice and tidy with a lid so you can't see mess.

3rd one not to my taste personally. I know KC is v fashionable, but it still says Old Lady to me. Sorry

Cobblers · 27/01/2010 21:01

Here they are..

What would you be putting in it, recycling wise? Number 1 could get very grubby. I take each item outside as I use it.

cookielove · 27/01/2010 21:05

i like the first

and the chalk storage jars from heals but that is off point

allaboutme · 27/01/2010 21:06

No one apart from me would bother recycling if we took it outside each time we used it!
It would have in it... all paper, card, cans and plastic containers...

just use a carrier bag!

reduce, re-use, recycle

don't be buying more stuff! lol
we sometimes save cardboard boxes/bags. that way you can fill them up and chuck the whole lot in.

we're very lazy because the recycling bin is just outside the front door so it's not like we even have to go far to put it in there lol

allaboutme · 27/01/2010 21:07

Some of the Heals stuff is lovely, I agree

In general, it will get dirty unless you are totally on it with washing all your glass and can waste.

I think the KC one wont stand up and flop around, and has a zip closing so will be annoying to put things in and out of maybe?

I think you need something wood or plastic- ie something you can wash.

I have a large wooden wine box, that I blagged from my local posh wine cave. Looks nice, I can clean it, its unusual.

cookielove · 27/01/2010 21:14

my parents use one like this 2nd down

very handy we have two, one for transporting clean and dirty clothes, and one for storing dirty clothes, so flexiable and light

and also washable
