Please help me find the perfect black leggings

Hello style gurus.

Went shopping for black leggings today - tried TopShop, MOnsoon and M&S. Left shopping trip empty handed (and with heavy heart). All the leggings were hopeless.

My perfect leggings must be:

  1. long - I want them to come down to my ankles (am 5ft4 so should be easy)
  2. Properly elasticated - some I tried on today were already baggy round the knee and hadn't even been worn - I want mine to cling to my legs and give me a nice silhouette.
  3. Nice and thick - I hate those leggings that end up looking like tights on your thighs when you sit down.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks in advance...

Those AA ones say that they "sit between the calf and the ankle" but on the pic they look full-length (down to the ankle).

Does anyone know which is true? I really want them to be full length so nobody can see when I haven't shaved my legs

Yes, me too. Am hoping coz I'm short they'll be long on me...

There are no perfect leggings, just perfect legs...

American Apparel store in Soho. Another vote here for their leggings, the extra £'s definitely equal better quality.

Maybe there are longer length ones too. I have kong legs & mine are ankle length. I have lots of colours. The navy are lovely. The only ones I'm not keen on are the dove grey colour. They look grubby!

Legging update!

The Gap came up trumps again. They've got some really nice ones in at the moment in black and grey. £12.50 a pair...

Thanks again for the advice.

My favourites ones are from:

Peacocks
Matalan
New Look
Tesco

They are thick, long enough to reach my ankles, hold their shape well and haven't got holes in the crotch like the ones I got from Primark, Asda and H&M.

My friend swears by Select ones as well.
