Can someone concole me about a petty but bloody annoying slipper mishap

Cyb · 23/01/2010 19:52

I have just taken delivery of my new Toast ,tan suede, sheepskin lined, soft as butter slippers.

I was just taking some chicken out of the oven wearing said gorgeous slippers.

I tipped up the baking tray accidentally and a load of hot chicken fat splashed on my slippers! And has ruined the suede....

I told you it was petty but effin norah

washing up liquid and warm water will sponge it out ......my dc laugh at me when I flip my slippers off to get stuff out of the oven - see how wise I am? lmao

Cyb · 23/01/2010 19:54

I'm afraid you may have to accept a new shade of slipper!

Cyb · 23/01/2010 19:57

perhaps I should sling chicken fat over the rest of them to make it even

yip ....and dh said ..'can i have one of the other eggs i dont like a broken yolk' .... but

tethersend · 23/01/2010 20:03

Dry cleaners used to sell this amazing spray which dried to a powder which can be brushed off- it literally sucks all the grease out of a stain.

Will try and find it...

tethersend · 23/01/2010 20:06

Here it is. No guarantees, but if anything will work, that'll be it. It's brilliant.

Cyb · 23/01/2010 20:07

ooh thanks

Will it get the St Tropez out of my expensive bed throw? Or the hair dye from my coir flooring?

I'm not having a very good week

OP posts:
nickschick · 23/01/2010 20:10

im not laffin cyb....honest

tethersend · 23/01/2010 20:12

I won't ask what you were doing to get st tropez on the bed and hair dye on the floor...

I assume the stains happened at the same time?

I don't think it's stain remover you need, it's a damn cold shower

nickschick · 23/01/2010 20:17

Oh no not cold that will set all the stains .....i never understand the sleeping in st tropez i hate it i smell like a giant oxo cube with any false tan so much so that dh dreams about roast dinners - im the real bisto kid lol

Cyb · 23/01/2010 20:19

st tropez happened when I left the plastic can of mousse on its side and a bit leaked out

hair dye, I plopped a bit on the floor in bathroom on the lino, rubbed it in with my sock (like you do) ,then padded into the bedroom.

I've got a trail of brown blobs across the floor now.

i'm sure i read you should cover a grease/oil stain with brown paper and iron....not sure how that would work with suede slippers though. I never cook in flip flops always splash my feet....i feel your pain over your ruined slippers.

tulpe · 23/01/2010 21:39

oh no Cyb. I feel your pain. I have those slippers too and would be gutted to have spilt something on them

Hope the other suggested strategies work

nickschick · 24/01/2010 01:07

brown paper and iron is for candle wax

brimfull · 24/01/2010 16:27

my friend did similar thing
spilt fatty gravy on her suede uggs

she scrubbed with soapy water then dried , then srcubbed talcum powder in and left to dry
they look fine now - well she still looks like a tweenie in them bu tnot stained
