Ballet pumps

I want some ballet pumps. I think I may be the only woman I know who has never got on with them though my efforts haven't been great. I have a black pair from Next purchased while pg in a shoe emergency. I also own a silver pair I think may also be from Next but are less structured. Neither of them are at all comfortable.

I bought a pair from Hobbs last summer but they have a clasp detail on the toes which crushes my feet .

I may just give up but there is a gap in my footwear collection only they will fill (I think). I've heard French sole (?) ones recommended and Russell & Bromley.

I would like some animal print ones. I have flat thin feet. I am a 6.5-7.

TIA

just quickly - my leopard print ones are from here. They do come up quite narrow, so prob good for your feet

BTW ...I am a size 8-9 Yeti!!

LetThemEatCake · 21/01/2010 20:48

sorry should have checked - looks like they have about half as much choice as they did when I bought.

Have heard v.good things about French Sole

monkeysmama · 21/01/2010 20:56

Thanks LTEC. They have a pewter pair in my size in the sale that look interesting. Pewter would go with my colours I think though maybe too stand out for me.

I remembered you had generous feet. I was an 8 but they shrank when I was pg & have never gone back to their previous size. Very odd.

You need to come to Milan and go to Porselli, simply the best ballet pumps ever...

EldonAve · 21/01/2010 21:01

French Sole
LK Bennett

for cheap ones New Look is worth checking - some are leather and leather lined instead of the usual plastic

Anything here?

Boden have some nice animal print ones, I ordered these and it looks like there are some left in the sale in your size www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Sale/Womens-Shoes/Flats/AR406/Womens-Bow-Pumps.html
Next also do a good line in ballet pumps, I've always found them good quality and they look way more expensive than they actually are.

I think next shoes are rubbish. I've had good ballerinas from jones and hush puppies. Amazon have a good sale for hush puppies

nickschick · 21/01/2010 21:32

My best and comfiest ballet pumps were from ....asda!!!

southeastastra · 21/01/2010 21:33

if only ballet pump manufacturers would make them slightly more substanitial they would make a mint

PoppityPing · 21/01/2010 21:55

My most comfortable were from Primark, to make matters worse I bought them on ebay

I also have some very comfortable and it seems long lived ones from La Redoute, v cheap in the sale.

My expensive Toast ones make my toes ache after a bit as they slip off when I walk

Bodenbabe · 21/01/2010 21:56

Tesco currently have some for £5 and they are SO comfy! I can wear them around the house all day with no probs.

monkeysmama · 21/01/2010 21:57

I saw some Boden ones a while ago I quite liked. Thanks for the links. I am not that keen on the red detailing on the Boden zebra print ones but I do quite like the gold ones.

Pretty Ballerinas have the widest selection. How many designs do they make! I did see a pair I like but think I should decide I like ballerinas first then go to their store and try them on for that price.

Some of the Porselli ones look beautiful. Magari Franca, magari!

I think I may order the pewter Pump & Circumstance ones and see what I think.

You obviously all wear them then. Do they really go with everything?

Thanks again

MM

I have had about 10 pairs from Primarni and DD has two. They don't last long but are super comfy. Not good in the rain though.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 21/01/2010 22:05

Topshop always have them in stock, in fact, I bought DD a pewter pair at Christmas, quilted with a subtle bow.
£28 I think so not too expensive if they turn out uncomfortable.

Mimi1977 · 21/01/2010 22:50

I have some french sole ones and they are like slippers - so comfy. BUT - not all that hardwearing. I have had them from russell and bromley but they haven't worn too well. Not the best choice in muddy/rainy weather. However I have admired a pair of hush puppy ballet pumps without knowing it and been very suprised. Looked rather stylish and hardwearing and comfy! Worth checking out.

monkeysmama · 21/01/2010 23:13

Thanks again. I'll check out Hush Puppies!

I have 2 pairs of clarks ballet pumps some in black patent and some sparkly pink leather they too are v comfy.

bunnymother · 22/01/2010 11:36

I had French Soles and they wore through v quickly. So not at all hard wearing, but were good while they lasted.

Currently have Clarks black patent ones, which are quite sturdy, but cut across the top of one of my feet. They do the same to my sister.

LK Bennett have some gorgeous ones in the sale at the mo, but I find their shoes too narrow and I am not broad of foot.

Am watching this thread with interest as would love another pair. Zara do some, too, so may go check them out...

pinkhousesarebest · 22/01/2010 11:41

What about these? www.repetto.fr/boutique/chaussures/femme/ballerines.html

monkeysmama · 22/01/2010 15:12

I've decided to go and try some different ones on to see what suits me then order some pretty ones on line. Thanks for all the suggestions-safely in my favourites file.

MM - just found these - may be quite a nice, not-too-in-yer-face way of introducing some colour into your, ahem, palette.
